The crowd set a Southeastern Conference and national spring record. The previous SEC record was Tennessee's 73,000 in 1986.
A friend of mine is a Tuscaloosa police officer. He said they could only report the capacity numbers since it was impossible to tell to the person how many people were in the stadium. It was standing room only -- and the police estimate the numbers closer to 97,000 before the fire marshalls forced the gates closed for safety reasons.
