What are the best negotiation scenes in a film or on TV?
The Godfather has the obvious ones - the negotiation at the opening of the movie between Vito Corleone and that other guy, the negotiation between the Corleone family and the narcotics guy, and the negotiation between Michael Corleone and Moe Greene in Las Vegas.
Any others?

I thought of that. Wall Street as well although its more intense stock trading. Also My Cousin Vinny for how we used to do it in Brooklyn

For Sam Jackson, I prefer his "negotiation" with Brett in Pulp Fiction. "Tell me Brett, what does Marcellus Wallace LOOK like?" Not sure if this one counts or not, but a favorite of mine is Marge Gunderson at the desk of Jerry Lundegard in Fargo.

Starsky and Hutch...Ben Stiller thinking the gun isn't loaded even better, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang: Gay Perry: I want you to picture a bullet inside your head right now. Can you do that for me? Gunman: Fuck you. Anyway, that's ambiguous. Gay Perry: Ambiguous. No, no, I don't think so. Harry: No, I think what he means is that when you say "Picture it inside your head" okay is that that a bullet will be inside your head. Or picture it in your head. Gay Perry: Harry will you shut up. Harry: Well he's got a point. Gunman: Look, I don't know anything about a girl, seriously. I was bluffing. [Harry begins unloading his revolver]:Harry: Oh okay, you know what? I think you are bluffing right now. Gay Perry: Harry what are you doing? [sticks one bullet in the cylinder and spins it.]:Harry: Well what I am doing for the guy who likes tobluff, is I am playing a little game called "Am I bluffing?" Where is she? Where the fuck is Harmony? Gay Perry: Harry, [Harry spins the cylinder again and closes it] Harry: You want to play hard ball, I can do that. Where...is...the girl![The gun unexpectedly fires into the gunman's head.] Gay Perry: What did you just do!? Harry: There was only one bullet in that right? Gay Perry: You put a live round into that gun? Harry: Well I didn't know, I thought there was like an...eight percent chance. Gay Perry: Eight? Who taught you math?

Or even better, IMO, Jules negotiating with Pumpkin/Ringo for his wallet.

The negotiation scene on board the spaceliner in The Fifth Element.
LOL. +1 +2 Definitely one of the best negotiation scenes I can remember. I also like a scene from one of the same director's (Luc Besson) earlier movies: Leon The Professional. In a scene near the end, Matildha (12 year old Nicole Portman) tries to negotiate some hitman work from Leon's employer - Danny Aiello. To which Aiello replies; "I DON'T have NO work for any 12 year old assassins!" The top one for me though, will always be the coffee shop holdup scene in Sudden Impact with Clint Eastwood. Not much dialog, but the only standing robber trys to negotiate his way out by pointing a gun to the head of a hostage. To which Eastwood replies: "go ahead, make my day"
