Is this series any good?  We work on a monthly newsletter for HBO, and as appreciation, they sent everyone that works on their stuff the BoB box set.  So I have the entire show that I have never seen.

What do you guys think of the show?

Amazing.

Fantastic.

Epic.

Memorable.

Emotional.

Must-have for any DVD collection.

I would even call it "fabulous."

90% on RottenTomatoes.

I absolutely love it and considered my DVD collection to be incomplete until I picked up my own copy.

Stop posting and go watch it.  Now.

Very good...think of a factual Saving Private Ryan as a mini-series.

The final interviews with the surviving members of that company really showed how well it was cast.

Amazing in every way.  Set aside some time - once you start watching, you won't stop.

Very, very good.  Just keep in mind that it's "based on a true story" and isn't entirely accurate (nor is the book it's based on).  Still, it's one of the best things to watch if you want to know what WW2 was really like for American combat troops in Europe.

I remembered buying this the first day it came out.

I consider Band of Brothers to be a "war movie" in 10 parts, not a TV series. As such, I consider it not only the greatest war movie ever made, but one of the greatest films ever made, period.

It exceeds awesome by a comfortable margin. It's breathtaking, and utterly memorable.

I watch it annually. Which reminds me ... it's time.

It is a great series. Well written, well shot, well directed, well cast. There are some areas that some would consider slow, but nothing to overshadow the goodness imho.

What everyone else said.

I enjoyed this Movie so much that I've since read several more books on WWII including Beyond Band of Brothers by Dick Winters, I also picked up a couple of art prints signed by the surviving members of Easy Company, these I think may be the only autographs I have from anyone on anything.  I watch it every June or July.

I hate to be a contrarian, but the series is excellent.

Yeah, we're working on the e-announce and such for it.  One of the reasons they sent about 10 box sets on DVD for the office.  HBO is a good client.  I should have Rome, Deadwood and Entourage within the next couple of months.

The series is spectacular.

Simply put, Band of Brothers is breathtaking. It's stunning to look at, brilliantly cast and acted.

If I ever see a better war movie, or a better documentary, I will be shocked. It's cinematic perfection, and deserves to be recognized as the high water mark of film in this decade.

IIRC, that's cheaper than what it was when it came out on DVD.  I swear the original release was 100+ bucks.  hopefully they have a better case-  the tin box DVD case was nice but the DVD's are held a bit too well-  I'm worried I'll break them in half anytime I try and get them out the holder is so good.

Nothing much to add other than it's an amazing show.  It's one of the few shows that made me cry when I watched it as I felt like I understood just a little bit of what my dad must've went through during the Korean War.  The interviews are just awesome as well.

What amazed me most about the interviews is after the third or fourth episode I was able to accurately peg who was who. The thing you'll notice is that they hold off on naming the actual veterans until the very end, by which time you'll be able to peg just who everyone really is. I think that alone is a tremendous accomplishment by the actors and team involved not only in who the actors captured the respective mannerisms, but also the souls of the people they played. The first episode is a little slow, in my opinion, but it goes a long way towards explaining the bond all of the soldiers had. Once they drop into Normandy though, it's off to the races and doesn't stop until the end.

You're right. Band of Brothers was released at a time when HBO released every series (mini or regular) at the $100 price point. It's the reason I don't own anything of theirs 'cept Band of Brothers and From the Earth to the Moon.

Looks like the SRP for the Blu-Ray release is $100. Cheaper than I was expecting, considering most Blu-Ray releases are significantly pricier than their DVD counterparts.
