My level of interest in most Anime is only so/so but I just found this trailer at yahoo tonight and my god I can't wait to see this flick.

Be sure to check out the trailer and the clips "Briareos" and "Deunan Fight"

It looks like an amazingly well-animated movie with terrible voice acting and an absolutely awful soundtrack.

I'll probably still check it out at some point, but not likely in a theater even if it does play around here.

If you want to watch an anime that's well done visually, check out the new Ghost In The Shell movie that just hit DVD. There's no english dub, but it's a great movie.

Sub is probably better. Most english dubs just aren't that good in my opinion. Thin_J, does the Innocence dvd have screwed up subs? I've read that they are using the CC version (for deaf folks) with the sound descriptions in the subtitles. Like [helicopter approaching] etc..

ehhh

I'll Pass on that. I Bought into the hype on the Original and ended up buying it on faith only to end up hating every single second of it. I know a lot of people liked it but i just could never see why outside of some of the computer effects.

Guess there's really only been a couple anime films that I actually liked. Strangely enoughoutside of the Robotech/Macross series most of them were vampire films. (vampire hunter d and to a much lesser extent Blood: the last vampire)

But hey to each their own. I thought the movie looked pretty cool, but maybe I'm just really drawn in by the unique art style because I didn't even notice anything about the dialogue/dubbing or the soundtrack.

From what I can see on IMDB, it looks like Yoshiaki Kawajiri is working on the sequel. Something to look forward to.

I liked Vampier Hunter D and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust both a lot.

Also, I know you said you liked Macross.. if you haven't seen Macross Plus, you should hunt it down now. It's absolutely excellent.

And you should at least give the new Ghost in the Shell a rental, it doesn't follow Major Kusanagi this time, it's almost entirely about her partner, Bateau. It's a much simpler story this time around in general, or at least I found it to be.

And a sequel to Ninja Scroll? Count me in on that one. I'd love to see that.
