Mountain Lion coming next month on App Store, priced at $19.99 (not a typo). If you buy a new Mac starting today, your upgrade is free. A single purchase upgrades all your personal Macs.

Do Not Disturb mode for iOS - FANTASTIC. I've been craving this - I have a family member who has no concept of phone etiquette, so now I can make sure that those go straight to voicemail while letting work or the rest of my family through.

Any info on plans for a new iPod Touch? Mine is about to screw the pooch but I'm hoping I can hold out until the new model arrives.

Probably not going to be announced at this event. Likely in Sept.

Well I gotta say I am still pissed they won't update the screen res on the 13" MBP. Wanted to get my wife one, but I don't know if the 1280x800 is gonna cut it and I don't want to go with the smaller capacity HD for her in the MBA or the $1799 price tag on the 15".

$2,199 for a retina display MBP? Holy Hell! I better go sell some more books - or a kidney. Or a kid.
I'm not too impressed with the battery life listed for the new line. My MBA is supposed to be 7 but really, it's about 4 - 5 under moderate use. My 2010 MBP had much better battery life. I think I got about 8 hours on average.

500 of that is going from 500GB to 768GB. 250 of that is going from 2.6GHz to 2.7GHz. 200 of that is going from 8GB RAM to 16GB RAM.
Frankly, there isn't anything wrong with the $2,799.00 for the 2.6GB, 8GB, 500GB system. It still comes with the 650M chip, Retina, and all the sexiness that is MBP.
I don't have 1000 to spend on a laptop right now, so I don't see one in my immediate future anyways.

I can never wrap my head around the crazy high prices for the official cases. I got one that's virtually identical to that for ~$26 shipped two months ago.

The new MacBook Pro looks awesome. I don't like 15" laptops, but that one is pretty killer. The 13" MacBook Air is also a solid update, and it just saved me $1,499! Mostly because I'm waiting for a model at that price point with a 512GB SSD.
So onward 2011 MacBook Pro! You live to compute another year!

I had battery problems until I recently (not by choice) reset everything. The battery still drains quickly, but it doesn't shut off without warning as much anymore. My bigger problem is that the touch screen is failing. About 1/6 of the screen on the left side doesn't respond to touch (although it goes in and out of responsiveness, it is unresponsive most of the time). I've talked with a friend who has gone through a couple of iPod Touches and she said that the same thing happened to her on all of them.

Have you tried taking it to an Apple store? They are real good about replacing defective hardware, or for a nominal fee if you are out of warranty, you'll get a new one...

It is out of warranty and unfortunately the nearest Apple store is 1.5 hours away. Looking around online, it looks like a fix costs $100+. I've watched some YouTube videos on how to replace the digitizer and ordered all the parts I need, but then stopped trying to do it due to excessive nervousness.

MacRumors has a breakdown on what will work where with iOS 6: Some of this totally baffles me, why can't the iPhone 4 do turn by turn? My ancient android phone could do turn by turn without any issue, hell the multitude of apps on the store that do turn by turn supported my iPhone 3G.

yeah, my former bosses Verizon Razr flip phone did turn by turn before I even got an iPhone 1. My guess is that it needs Siri to do the talking.

I have the Waze app for my 4S to turn by turn if I need it now. You might check and see if it's available for the 4. As I recall, it was free, and uses crowdsourcing reports for traffic.

The Garmin USA app is quite good - I have it on my iPhone. It basically turns your phone into a Garmin. A bit pricy, but there are occasional sales. You have to pay $20 per year for the traffic module (I don't), but amazingly they update the maps for free, something they charge over $100 for on my standalone Garmin.

Hmm, I was hoping for a new iMac to replace/augment my 3.5 year old MBP. It is just too slow for complicated photo work with Aperture and Photoshop. Then Apple had to go and release the retina MBP. Damn them. The temptation of a 5 megapixel screen for photo work is high, and expensive, and shiny. Luckly they are sold out(or simply never arrived) everywhere around here... not that I called or anything.

Yeah I really wanted a new iMac for Diablo/Civ and whatever other games I want, but the retina MBP is awfully tempting instead given that they didn't actually update the iMacs. I'll hopefully just hold off for a while until the iMacs are finally updated.

I saw the ifixit tear down and holy shit has apple basically destroyed any and all upgrade-ability. Soldering the RAM onto the logic board, you can't just get the lowest ram and buy 16 gigs off of newegg for 100 dollars. More proprietary SSDs. It would be incredibly hard for me to want to dump that much money on a laptop that has no chance of me extending its life a bit.

Form Factor won over upgradeability.

Blizzard’s Diablo III ran at an acceptable 20-25 frames per second for us even with a maxed out (and quite unnecessary) resolution of 2,880 x 1800, and reducing it to a still insane but more realistic resolution of 2048 x 1280 gave us frame rates of 45 to 50 frames per second, even when hacking a meat path of carnage through the tormented denizens of the Arreat crater on Hell difficulty. http://www.cultofmac.com/174582/review-the-2012-retina-macbook-pro/You win, Apple. Time for you to get more of my money.
