I do love the air but I would gladly trade up to a slimmer MacBook Pro in the 15" range. The Air is a fantastic portable but I need a larger to go easier on my eyes.

I'm in the market for a new laptop for pharmacy school and have been considering Mac products. The challenge is choosing between the Air and the Pro. I'll have zero gaming time, so the final product will primarily be used for document production and academic organization, but eventually I hope for it to have enough longevity to handle pharmacy-specific professional software post-graduation.

I have pretty specialized needs. Basically I have to have 8GB of RAM (more, ideally) due to what I do for a living. I don't think general software would need that *unless* you had the need to virtualize Windows and run the software in there.

I have a 2011 Air and it's fantastic for everything except 3d gaming of any kind. I primarily use OSX Lion but I have Win7 installed and use it through VMWare Fusion. Works like a charm. If they come out with a slimmer Pro for a reasonable price, I would consider upgrading. I would like to play Diablo

I have the high end 2011 MBA (best aside from custom order on apple store) and D3 chugs on my laptop, even with everything cranked down low. WoW ran great, but D3 not so much.

Yeah this was my experience with the Beta. It runs, but with some big reservations. I turned everything down and it would seriously chug whenever any moderate activity was on screen, including some 5+ second freezes/hitches.

Im pretty sure it's the solid state drive. I had a 2010 MBP but the Air ran circles around it. I do all of my writing on my Air. It can load a 400 page manuscript in Word in seconds. Even an edited manuscript with pages of notes and corrections doesn't challenge the lil guy. This with safari and other crap running. The only real negatives are the battery life, and the screen size. I'd probably keep a 15" MBA for many years.

I'm waiting to see what the new 27" iMacs look like. My current MBP is getting a bit long in the tooth for photo work, mostly because I am maxed on RAM.

it'd be nice if they gave some sort of hint about the next iPhone, because the Samsung Galaxy S3 is looking sexier than Kathode in a teddy.

If by hint you mean what the OS will be then you'll be ok, otherwise I wouldn't expect to hear anything until Sept. Here's a preview though, it'll be better than anything else on the market.

Everyone I know personally who had an Android phone ended up disliking it and everyone who had an iPhone loves it. I expect the same trend to continue with the next version.

I have an ipad. Is there anything I care about?
Mostly, I just want to know that if I have to update the OS, it's not going to bog down the ipad2. The main thing I'd really like to see is persistent notification icons in the top bar. Having them vanish into the no-man's land of the invisible notification tray is dumb.

Ha, let's see what the price is... $2199, less than I expected. EDIT: Ah but that's with 8 GB RAM and only 256 SSD space.

That's still less than a current gen MBP with those specs, I think?
Regardless I have to consider this versus an iMac for home use... we'll see.

Same price as the top end 15" (not custom build) looks like.

Yeah, mine was a little more spendy than that - but then, I'd be going well above the defaults of what the new one has too, so I bet it could still escalate quickly.
I'm also not due for a hardware refresh for a long time yet, but that's a pretty exciting laptop right there. Certainly makes me more likely to consider selling mine in the next year or so to accelerate the upgrade, for sure.
