I'm pretty blown away with how much I like it.  I'm actually trying to talk myself out of the idea of running the beta on my phone... it looks that good.

iOS 7 looks super nifty to me, but I've been content with the OS as-is, too. Looks like they're addressing a few of my quibbles with the current OS, which is super, and it doesn't look like anything new is a step in the wrong direction, which is also super.

Ok, that does look pretty nifty.  I'm a bit grumpy that the website for the new Mac Pro is extremely choppy on both my iPad and my MacBook Air though. slywink

Stunned by the generally positive response. I think it's awful. Hideous. Take your pick: Fisher Price. Reminds me of when I discovered airbrushing when I was twelve. When I discovered freelance "web design" in 1996 when I was nineteen. Crappy photoshop tutorials. Like someone wanted to rip off different aspects of all the other mobile OSes, but do it as badly as possible. The goggles do nothing. Vice City color scheme.

I repeat: hideous.

I certainly welcome the 1-swipe to common settings feature but I just don't know why it took 5 years or why they couldn't implement it in the current OS. *cue for someone to make a snarky comment about Apple*  icon_razz

As far as the Ivy Designed OS7, I think I'd reserve judgement until I see it in action, rather than static screenshots. Some of the changes seem to involve animations. I wouldn't necessarily expect users that have used an iPhone for 1-5 years to be jumping for joy about flat icons and effervescent color schemes. Ironically, my reaction's kind of a neutral "flat" at this point.  icon_neutral

I'm more keen on usability and Siri improvements than on a redesign I wasn't really dying for.

If you want a fast recap of the event, Apple-wise, Endgadget has a nice round up hub:

Because...Apple.

My most wanted change is not on there, which is a way to see/launch my Most Used Apps and/or to create a list of Favorites but still keep my apps organized in their folders.

I like the look, but don't understand why they are sticking with the strict grid layout.

I recently switched back  to Android for my phone and it's refreshing being able to make it look exactly like I want.

I absolutely prefer iOS on tablets though.  My ipad is so much better  than my Android tablet, it isn't even close.

I somewhat accomplish this today by double tapping the home button.  It brings up the most recent apps, which are pretty much my most used apps.

Of course I also barely use folders, so I'm sort of an oddity there.

I think this is primarily because the standard iOS grid layout has been around for six years now.  I'd imagine many (most?) iPhone users are repeat purchasers and they don't want to change things too much on them.  If you're the dominant player, there's really not much of a reason to change a very core UX paradigm that almost none of your customers are complaining about.

I know it wasn't expected but I'm still disappointed by the lack of a new iPhone.

I'd really like to upgrade my 4 but I know the moment I order one they'll announce the 5S or whatever.

Is there even a chance there won't be a 5S of some sort this fall?

I don't quite understand this complaint. You can spread out your apps now and have different pages display different things on iOS. No you can't place each app in a specific place without following the grid rules, but having used an Android recently, I didn't find that feature to be that great. To each their own though.

iOS 7 has a ton of great new features, like the looks or not, it's going to a great upgrade assuming it performs as stated.

Wireless AC isn't much of a feature add for me since my network is still N and too expensive to replace with all AC equipment... to be honest I don't actually know what else I'd want above and beyond what works today.  I just have to buy a new iPad shortly and I want it to be the newest one slywink

I don't really care for the new look of iOS7 either. Having said that, it won't have any impact on my next phone decision. I really want to get an iPhone next as I have had enough with the foibles of android, BUT apple has got to make a phone with a much bigger screen than they do now. That is my only factor in deciding whether I go apple over android ....

I'm hoping they do that with the iPhone 6.  I'm out for the 5S, but when the 6 rolls around I'll be ready for the sexiness.

There's clearly a market for them though.  If Apple does come out with a gigantor iPhone, I sure hope they also keep one that's no bigger than the current ones.  I like how my phone fits in my pocket and how I can reach everything with my thumb.

I don't know about the note, but the s3 and s4 have beautiful screens and fit easily in my pocket. They are pretty much the same size as my droid razr which is a 4.3" screen. I refuse to downsize my screen to get an iPhone. My wife's iPhone 5 seems tiny to me.

Yeah I'm way on the other end.  The S3 and S4 are too big.  I'm actually concerned that the iPhone 5 won't be very comfortable when I have to upgrade.

I use a 4 as my personal phone and a 5 as my work phone, so I switch back and forth between the different screen sizes.

I'm still not sold on the larger screen of the 5.  There are times when the extra real estate is kind of convenient and there are times when the screen feels unwieldy.  I kind of wish I could get a 4-sized phone with 4G.

My previous work phone was a Droid Charge which was comically big.   And a complete POS.

I think it's pretty amazing that all the MBA have the same CPU and RAM now and it's just a matter of what storage and screen size you want.  Reviews about the new versions say they are really powerful.
