Had a ][e as a child and have stuck with Apple ever since. I've only ever seen Steve as a guy who wanted to make cool stuff and I think he accomplished that in spades. He'll be missed.

I had an Apple 2e back in the mid-80s and loved it (mostly for the games). After that, I pretty much abandoned Apple products in favor of the PC world until 2 years ago when I got my first Ipod Touch, which I love (mostly for the games). RIP.

It's sad. Tim Cook's fine (and he's credited with teaching Jobs about manufacturing's ins and outs), but it was pretty clear yesterday he doesn't have Jobs' ability to charm an audience, to "make you want something you didn't know you needed," as I've seen mentioned in some obit pieces on him.
I almost wonder if a healthy Jobs presenting yesterday might've actually made yesterday's announcement come off as a grand thing rather than an "OK upgrade" that has provoked all this hand-wringing on various news sites.
The only thing that bothers me about some of the TV news obits is they make it seem like Jobs invented/created all these products by himself, like he was some mad professor in a workshop who had no help at all. In interviews, he talked about surrounding himself with great people and how that would "lift you up," and I think he'd find it a bit of a shame these obits make it seem like those great people around him had nothing to do with all these signature products.

So sad! He was a great man and such a visionary. I came to the Apple camp late in life but their products have done nothing but enhance my life. From my first iPod to my ipad 2 which is pretty much my 'blanky' I don't go anywhere without it.

My computer is a Mac, and has been for ten years. My phone is an iPhone. I use an iPad every day, and watch most programming over my Apple TV. I can't imagine a world where Steve Jobs didn't exist.
