wow... just catching up on reading a bit and then saw this thread

here are the end results of the kickstarter campaign
====================
14,952
Backers
$1,254,120
pledged of $57,750 goal

====================

my favorite pledge...

Estimated Delivery: Dec 2012
Pledge $5,000 or more
1 Backer SOLD OUT (0 of 1 remaining)

Your original D&D character, based on your descriptions (within reason), gets a walk-on cameo in The Order of the Stick webcomic sometime this year. Plus, you get an original signed crayon drawing of that character, an autographed copy of War and XPs, and the Roy Greenhilt magnet.
Estimated Delivery: Dec 2012

the stories picked by a backer have been announced

I've also gotten a lot of questions about what the "Backer's Choice" PDFs are that were mentioned on the Monster in the Darkness' charts. Scroll down the list of rewards to the $1250 level: three stories where the main character is being chosen by a backer rather than by me. I'm also ready to announce which three characters these stories will be about: Therkla, the Cliffport Police Department, and a pre-Order Belkar Bitterleaf. All three stories will be delivered to all backers once they are completed, too, so that's three more things you have to look forward to.

The cut out monster miniatures are done, and hot damn they are phenomenal.  I am so happy that I backed the project and got these.  There are roughly 250 miniatures and every single one is very high quality.  Now to buy some card stock and try and sneak printing the high res versions at work without getting in trouble.

Actually, the first 1/4 of the monster miniatures are done. There will be one such pack for each "season".

Holy shit.

If you have been avoiding the comic for a while waiting for a good time to catch up, now may be that time.  Just be sure to go back to where you left off, and avoid peeking at today's.  Here's a link to a comic a ways back so you don't have to click on the most recent to get reading: http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0837.html

Also worth mentioning, Rich is recovering well from his thumb injury, and he's been churning out comics daily for the last week.

But again: holy shit.  I'd love to hear some discussion from true D&D nerds on what the possibilities are coming out of today's comic.

Don't worry, it's probably very close at this point.

I don't want to discuss anything spoiler related, as folks need to enjoy the reveals for themselves, but it is amazing the amount of emotion this comic has been able to solicit from me.

I do believe the current pace is due to the stretch goal that was "9 comics in 9 days".

If you really want to be depressed, go to the comic's archive and read both strips titled "The Bright Side," newer one first.

Really can't wait to see where Burlew is going with this.  I wasn't a huge fan of the current arc, but he's been kicking ass the last few strips.

And to ultra-nerd it up:

EDIT - EXTRA SPOILER SPACE FOR ANYONE USING TAPATALK!

REALLY, REAALLY SPOILEY, GO READ THE STRIP FIRST!

.

.

Spoiler for Hiden:
If Durkon was my character, I totally would've let the Hold Person lapse on Belkar.  Better to get stabbed by a halfling than exsanguinated and vamped by an albino lizardman! Easier to be raised too, I think.

Can five murderous vagabonds heroes save their world from a roman empire knockoff the forces of evil?  Apparently so! Find out how they did it in the only best D&D game in General Analog Gaming!

BTW- What number is the strip up to. I've started reading the books again and the last one hits 672.

I don't want to check the site for fear of any chance at a spoilar.

It's so good.

Checked the site and he says in his latest update that he's finished a major story arc, but there's no mention of a new book.

Makes my heart sad.

He has been on a short break for the past 4 weeks or so.  It was a pretty major story arc and it did not disappoint.

He wrote a long update after he finished this arc, where he mentioned that he wouldn't be focusing on getting the book out for a while as he still has a lot of Kickstarter obligations that he would like to give priority. I wouldn't expect the book until the end of the year at the earliest.

Bad news, ATB. Recent tweet:

@RichBurlew: No. Next book is not coming out soon. There's lots of work to be done on it, and it's not highest priority right now.
