Anyone read this comic? It's a very very funny take on D&D and all the silliness that accompanies it. Click on the link below and start with #1. I'm only up to #17 or so but my favorite so far is when Roy is visited by his dead parents: "And what, they have no clerics where you live? Would it kill you to Speak With the Dead once in a while to let your mother and me know how you're doing?" Link to The Order of the Stick

Yep, hilarious stuff. I'll be buying the book, too. I like to read it once a month though so there's more in one sitting.

I read through the first 86 when it was mentioned on GoneGold some time ago. It was obviously a slow work day I am glad you reminded me since I haven't checked back. I would imagine there are quite a few to catch up on. I'm just not good at going back religiously every two days or so for my fix. That's why I love those comic collections at the bookstore.

I've been reading it off and on for quite a while . I'm currently, "on".
Pretty funny stuff. I played D&D in the late seventies, haven't touched it since. Amazingly enough, I still have all the books, modules, dice, etc in a box somewhere. Which means I dragged that shit around with me everywhere for the past 25 years...I need help.

No unmarked Spoilers please!
I'm intentionally many many weeks behind so I can read a bunch at a time.
Also, I had his latest book pre-orderded and it came last week. I'm guessing it takes us through the end of the battle for Azure City and upon completing that, I'll be catching up.
Burlew is a genius.
Edit: This thread is 3 years and 7 months old. It's incredible to believe that I've been reading it that long...and longer.

I'm about 2/3 through his latest book and have gone back to read some of the commentaries. It's amazing -though not surprising given the quality- how much thought he puts into it. So wonderful.

If you haven't already you should pick up the two prequel books as well. They're both cheaper than the main collection books and they give a lot of interesting backstory on the characters. Oh yeah, they're funny as well.

Holy thread necro batman! So for those who haven't somehow heard about it, there is a kickstarter project running to raise money to get the OOTS books back into print. The fans of the comic have stepped up big time, and in roughly 10 days, pledged over $300,000. As someone who has enjoyed the comic for quite some time now, I bit the bullet and decided to back the project. Just wanted to share in case there were fans out there looking for the books, and weren't aware of this project. Kickstarter Project Page

For those who haven't got the books, this is your first opportunity in years to get every single one of them, even including Snips, Snaps and Dragon Tails, a limited book that will never be put up for regular sale. Some of the books have been out of print for ages, or only available in very limited supply.
As for myself, I own all the books already so there's not much for me to pay for in the Kickstarter that is of interest. At least I put in a $10 contribution, if nothing else.

Yeah I never bought the books when they were in print, so I ponied up for the $222 contribution, which gets me all of the books.

So the project still has roughly 18 days to go, is now at a pledge level of over $380,000, has broken the record for all time highest funded creative art project and is in the top 10 all time in funding for kickstarter projects. Rich has to keep adding new goals and rewards because every day, the previous days goals are being surpassed.

He does that once in a while. Rich Burlew has some kind of medical condition (which he refuses to elaborate upon) that makes it impossible for him to draw the comic for lengthy periods of time. It's nothing life-threatening, but it's something we fans have to just accept. Right now he's been going strong for about 2 months or so, with as much as 2-3 updates every week.

I think it's carpal tunnel or something similar. I've seen him at conventions (or I think it's him, he was drawing sketches for people when he signed the books) and he had some wrist braces like a buddy who has CT wears.

Can't believe how awesome this is going. At this rate, Burlew should just screw the reprints and finance an OOTS animated series. I doubt he'd get many complaints.

Is don't split the party still the latest book in the main campaign?
I stopped reading the site altogether as reading the books is an immense joy to me and have been waiting and waiting for a new one to come out.

Yes, Don't Split the Party is the last book currently out. The latest story arc seems to be moving towards a conclusion though, so it might not be long until we get another book.
