Well, this really, really sucks. When I couldn't access Gone Gold for two days, I feared the worst, and even resorted to installing the IRC client and going to #gonegold to see what's going on. I also suddenly remembered this site, so I came, and saw the thread. This really sucks, and if anyone wants to do something, count me in.

Glad to see old faces here though. Funny to see that I registered, and have more posts, than some of the old-timers here...

If GG has died (I'm witholding judgment on that one until I hear official word), it is a sad day indeed.  In any event, thanks to Ron and the rest of his staff here for offering their support to make the mass transition a pleasant one.

Man, I don't know how I feel about this being the first thread I've ever started that's exceeded three pages.  

If GG is gone, I'll be one sad panda.  I'd been there for four and a half years, and was finally closing in on 3000 posts to get my tag.  Hopefully we'll have a final word on this soon, just for closure's sake.  I'm really hoping that Rich is okay, and if pulling the plug on the site is what he needs to do to get better, then I can understand that.  An answer would be nice though.

But we should wait... it might very well not be the end, and I'm kind of hoping some GG'ers would team up and resurrect Gone Gold. There's some talk about that before in the forums, but seems no one really went and did it out of apathy - I admit GG took on a kind of a permanent feel. Sad to see we might be wrong. Again, if anyone's up to resurrecting GG (if it needs any resurrecting), count me in.

I agree. ConsoleGold is nice and everything, but its like that nice hotel you stay in while the house you live in gets sprayed for termites. It may be nice and you have a great time, but by the end, you're really looking forward to going home.

No, but as one of the long-timers at GG (can't believe I'd ever be able to post that) who started there and migrated here long ago, I can vouch that these are good people here and the CG of old is not the CG of new. Our information is good, the writing is good, and the people are friendly so there's plenty to see elsewhere on the site as well as chat it up in the forums.

Plus, our forums work.

For me, the fact that the folks that make up the Console Gold community have made this place so welcoming (and are familiar "faces") makes me want to stick around, regardless of whether GG comes back up or not.  I'd be quite happy when the GG forum returns but I think I've added yet another venue for me to be distracted from work...
