When is the last time someone has actually heard from Rich anyway? There was that rumor around the time that Bill quit that Rich wasn't around not because of his health, but be cause he just didn't want to be.

Regarding alt-logins, I think folks would be wise to question the connection between anyone's CG-GG names for folks who didn't sign on until 9 October. Put your critical thinking caps on and make a wise guess as to how folks would react to GG (apparently) closing their doors. And recognize that the particular poster who's signing on with other names *loves* to hold conversations with himself (using his different names). May I have your attention please? May I have your attention please? Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? I repeat, will the real Slim Shady please stand up? We're gonna have a problem here.. I've already been guilty of not taking Meal's advice and mistook MSD's imposter for him. I'm really sorry about that but yesterday I wasn't in my best form. Between the chaos over at GG and then having two of my best friends split up after 9 years as a couple my mind is currently more of an emotional sieve than I care to admit to. Great to see you all! /dons thinking cap

When is the last time someone has actually heard from Rich anyway? There was that rumor around the time that Bill quit that Rich wasn't around not because of his health, but be cause he just didn't want to be. The last time he was heard from on the forum he was preparing to make a comeback, then had a reversal because his dog Katie passed away. I'm not making light of that event. I love my dogs too, and they don't give me near the support I imagine Katie gave to Rich.

Hi guys. <--- Newbie - Posts: 1 This is so depressing. I was already having a really bad week as a PC gaming nut because my local Gamestop dismantled their PC section and stuck it on a tiny, pathetic metal rack in the middle of the store. When the store opened, they had all the PC game boxes right at the front when you walked in. Over the years, they moved the section into the back corner on 3 shelves, then 2, then 1. Tolerable since the boxes shrunk, but hardly desirable. Now, as of last week, I have to browse new PC games by their spines (ugh) and all the boxes are empty (double ugh). I bought Port Royale 2 (tons of fun by the way) and they made me wait like a shmuck while they went to the storage room and got the box contents and put them in then handed me a mangled box. It looked like they sliced open the plastic sticker on top with a rusty tuna can. I collect boxes! Meanwhile the walls of the store are filled with console games. Fucking used gameboy games are sitting where my new PC titles used to sit. So now, on that very same week, I (might have) lost my favorite PC gaming forum (I think I had in the neighborhood of 14,000 posts over there) and I'm forced to join... wait for it... CONSOLE Gold. Huge <sigh>. Really bad confluence of events. God knows I love console games, but they're a distant second to PC gaming which will always be #1 in my heart. If no good news surfaces re:GG and we all end up migrating over here, I guess I'll get used to it. But right now, I don't wanna. All I wanna do is whine and pout. On the plus side, it's good to have a new batch of smilies to work with. My favorite is this catbutt with dangly turd:  Also on the plus side, it's great to see Mr. Fed!

Glad you finally showed, Morton. I was wondering where you were. If it'll make you feel better, start some new thread on a movie or music group no one's ever heard of, and I'll jump in and say it's great too.

Woohooo! I have found home again. THe guys at #gonegold were really nice doing my first ever IRC chat experience, too. I think that reconstistutiong the forums would be the natural way to go but I am troubled that if that was the end, why wasn't the community given more notice, so as to save itself? I would buy the story of what happened to this site over the years in book form, to be sure. Thanks to all the CG peeps for giving us a place and a welcome. Here's how little I knew: I thought they were close to one and the same. RHino

That actually might make me feel better! -I saw I Heart Huckabee's so I wanted to report on that. (Thumbs up but just barely. Kinda diappointing cuz I was looking so forward to it.) -I got K-OS JOYFUL REBELLION and wanted to thank T-Dub for the recommendation. Good stuff. -Best of all, I got me some Pixies tickets for December 18th!!!!!! OH, BABY! I was so excited, I dug out my really old Pixies t-shirt from the U2 Zoo TV tour (the Pixies opened) and wore it in the park and a hot chick said "nice shirt!"

*leaf_fan00 from GG peeks in* Is this where the party is now? I went by the GG house, but it's all boarded up, no sign of life anywhere!!! But I noticed the light on at a house across the street, and I thought I'd come over to check it out. I was a little tentative at first, because I heard rumours that the people hear actually think Halo is a good game, but I guess I can deal with that. If this is to be our new home, then I'd like to thank the staff and members of CG for the warm welcome.

Gee, thanks. And while it's been said before, I might as well say it again - we here at Console Gold welcome everybody from across the street at Gone Gold. It's getting a bit crowded though, so I recommend you bring your own chair or sleeping bag.

I wanted to say two more things:
1. The Console Gold people are really cool to be so welcoming. I hope they forgive a bunch of riff-raff coming in and monopolizing their kitchen table with GG talk.
2. Even though I don't post at GG anymore, I hope that it isn't gone. In particular, if someone with the power to end it did so, I would feel terrible that it wasn't done without notice to the mods. I have a great deal of respect and appreciation for them, and if it was done that way, they deserved far, far better. I hope they know that their efforts have made a difference in people's lives.

Another GGer wandering in to say hello.
I have to echo everyone's comments about the hospitality shown by the Console Gold crew.
I'm choosing to remain optimistic, though, about a resurrection. But until then, I happy to hang here.

Just wanna add my 2 cents....bringing the grand total up to 2 cents. I have been a loooong time lurker on GG, but due to my inescapable shyness I have never posted there or been involved in any of the innumerable subjects of which I found my self inexplicably drawn to, but never involved myself in.(Since this is my first post I'm gonna get all my big, fancy, downtown falutin, words outta the way). But now that GG seems to be on the outs, I feel this is my chance to join the crowd. I found myself wandering aimlessly across the internet since yesterday searching for a site that could fufill the black hole that was left when I could not log onto GG. I woke up this morning, weary to have to face yet another day without GG or a place to stand outside the virtual window of and watch as people discussed the games and topics of interest which I could relate to. Then, just as I was giving up hope and resigning myself to the fact that I may have to forgo my quest to seek a place of refuge for my gaming needs to be kept up to date, and that I may have to tap into those internet porn-site surfing feelings I have been surpressing for so long, I remembered that on GG, tucked in there, I think somewhere between Multiplayer discussion and Road to Gold, and all the Derek Smart Flame Wars tm(just in case), there was a topic called Console Gaming. I have been a console gamer since Intellivision and right through to XBox with most everything in between, so I often lurked in that forum also. Then I recalled that there seemed to be a "sister-site" to GG called Console Gold. Although I had visited that site a few times in the past, to be honest, the lack of discussion of PC games always led me back to GG, where I had it all in one place. Now with GG seemingly down, I find myself here, along with what seems like a bunch of other dedicated, but unfortunatly some what displaced gamers. As I have read through the growing number of new post in this forum concerning GG and being from familiar names from GG, I feel as I may have found a new community. One which I will strive to become active in this time. It seems as if we are being welcomed with open arms, and for that I am grateful. I hope most other GGers are too. Thank you KD and other CGers for that. I hope we dont wear out our welcome anytime soon. I will shut up.....for now

I'm glad that everyone is settling in ok here. All that I ask is that we be patient and figure out what is going on before we make changes. If things go south with GG, I'll re-open Road to Gold, open a PC forum, open a hardware forum, etc. You'll find yourself in familiar territory fairly quickly. If not, we'll re-assess after we find out more completely what the status of the site is. I'm just loathe to open a bunch of forums if there is to be a mass exodus back to GG when/if she opens back up for business, ya know?

-I saw I Heart Huckabee's so I wanted to report on that. (Thumbs up but just barely. Kinda diappointing cuz I was looking so forward to it.) Cool - have been waiting to see some GG impressions on it. My sense from the trailer is that it probably has some funny/clever parts but overall is not so hot. Though, if I am on the fence, Naomi Watts will quickly cause me to teeter over to the "go see it" side. She is criminally cute.

It's nice to see everyone here...I've traded with quite a few...talked with quite a few...and played with a few of you....it's nice to have a place where we can all congregate...and leave our computer droppings amoung the Consolers  Anyway..I'm still hoping it's not true...but seeing as the site..except for the forums..has been in a perpetual downward spiral..I guess were lucky to have been welcomed with open arms..any..thanks for the open door.....

It will be nice also to have a non-static front page. Ironically enough, this ordeal coincides with my new Xbox I have been so enamored with the last couple weeks. As said many times here, it sucks about GG, but with the strong community around here this can work and be a plus for not only us forum goers, but a boon for Console Gold as well. The staff here completely rocks and the forum software is light years ahead of GG's. If they throw in a PC gaming forum....well, I have no problem calling this place home. Now, I must go and help Riddick escape from Butcher Bay.

Sounds like good advice, "Meal". In fact, the advice sounds a bit too good...

My credentials are as such: Well, okay, I don't have any credentials.....wait! Anyone who was looking in the second 'This is fun' thread will remember the pic of the cute kitten all tucked into a little kitty bed, I posted that one! HAHAHA! Proof!
