Personally I like the heck out of the Winter Olympics. Track and field never does anything for me quite like downhill skiing and bobsledding. Also, if you haven't seen Google today then check it out. biggrin

Downhill skiing is about all I care for in Winter sport.  Being from a warm weather area all my life, I don't really relate to winter sports.  Plus, other than that guy who says he is skiing while drunk, I don't know any 'personalities' in this Olympics, I have no one to root for.

I'm actually more excited about the last four episodes of Arrested Development.
The Olympics get the silver medal tonight!

I love the winter olympics.  For me it's

Hockey (Women & Mens)
Speed Skating
Curling (yes, I love this)

I hate anything to do with skiing or figure skating (except for the cute foreign girls in those little skirts and beige stockings!   )

I love watching them jump off that huuuuuuuuge ramp for distance.  I love the speed skating as well.  I dont care much for the Summer but i can watch and bare most of the Winter except Ice Skating.

Winter Olympics > Summer Olympics

I mean, I don't regularly tune in (unless it's hockey), but I enjoy watching.

Hockey all the way.  Too bad NBC isn't carrying all the games.  Stupid Comcast monopoly.

I'd also be interested in seeing Bode Miller fall on his ass.  Or win gold.  Either way, I'm good.

Ski jumping is the big one for me.  I mean, I only watch it about once every four years, but that's about right smile  I guess luge is maybe even more dangerous, but ski jumping just looks batshit insane.  Anything batshit insane is worth watching once every four years.

Anyone got a schedule for NBC's coverage somewhere so I can figure out when the good stuff is on?

Ski jumping is on tonight 12:00/11:00 (central), according to yahoo.

Luge is on at both 3:00/2:00 (central) and 8:00/7:00 (central).

I like the olympics, but I am already tired of Bode Miller.

I enjoyed the opening ceremonies quite a bit.  The torch lighting was excellent.

Boy that was fun, watching the Canadian women's ice-hockey team beat up on Italy 16-0.  And then the uncomfortable 15-minute gap at the end when Bill Clement had to fart around and ask questions to Cammi Granato.

Winter Olympics FTW!

I really think they need to come out with the Winter Olympics Extreme Edition, with events like:

Ski Jump Skeet Shooting
Face first downhill sled racing through a forest
ice football (the real American Football)

I might be more excited if NBC actually showed the Olympics.  Right now they've been showing 3 hours of Daytona qualifying.

There's some women's hocky on USA, though.

Yeah, I'm not too thrilled with the coverage.  I'm really hoping that I can find a lot of torrents and stuff to get stuff to watch for later, including things from other countries.

I don't like watching any sport, including the olympics.  I like to do some of the activities, skiing etc, but I just can't stand watching them and don't follow any sport in exsistence.  /snore

I have a problem with snowboarding being an Olympic sport.  It just seems to me that it just doesn't fit in.  I watched that snowboarding halfpipe dealio with the "flying tomato" or whatever his name is tonight . . . it seemed like I was watching the X Games or something.

That and the fact with the super-loose fitting garb they wear, a Mountain Dew sponsership on the helmet of a competitor I saw on an upcoming preview, and how one American who had a terrible run started to ramble commentary to the camera right after the run, saying things like, "Ah man, that didn't go so well, that sucked" . . . I don't consider those in the sport true Olympians.

Sure, I consider it a sport.  And you have to be athletic to compete at a high level in that sport.  But I just don't like seeing it being in the Olympic games.

I'm not disagreeing with your assessment, but I think the Olympic organizers realize they have to stay relevant (at least in the US).  Apparently downhill skiing is like football in Europe.  Not many people in the States lining up to watch the luge.

I thought the snowboarding was tastefully done.  If anything I would imagine it turns off some of the XTREME SPORTS! fans since it was presented like the other Olympic sports.  It was actually a pretty staid show - in line with the other events - especially when compared to X-Games.  I also thought it was great how much those guys actually seemed to appreciate representing their country.  That's the true Olympic spirit.  Of course the "aw man, that sucked" probably doesn't, but you know those guys were dissapointed.
