I don't think I'll ever enter my CC number somewhere if I don't intend on buying anything.

"Your credit card will not be charged. It is only used to validate your age in order to view M rated content. And to check your available balance. And since you can view said content, and have enough room on your card, we figure that you might as well purchase our game. So you will in fact be charged. Thank you for viewing the website. Feel free to look around. We have a new Tony Hawk game, you know. It's not an M rated title, but we'll need to check your age again anyway.

You can expect both games in five to ten business days."

That is insane!

First off what are they doing with that data.
Second, who the heck would give it to them!?!?

They get hacked or something?

When I first went there I thought it must be a scam site or something, but it aint. It is Activisions site. And, as far as I can tell, it aint secure. First Sonys' shit and now this. The Land of the Free is geting pretty expensive to live in, as we get to pay more and give up more.

Dont the suits and politicians have anything better to do and worry about?

WTF?? This just amazes me. What is this world coming to?

I think they can kiss my ass. I have the rest of the internet to find information on that game, and I am not going to give them my credit card to do it.

This is true, but it is not just that game. It also includes Doom 3 and Quake 4, and any other M rated title of theirs. Just think of the people who dont really know how to get access to other sites for their info or patches. You buy a game, and if you are having trouble or questions, you go to that games' site. I can just see them doing this now just to access the M rated games on the site, and then in the future doing it for any type of info or support on games.

Fuck Activision.  Just don't buy their games.  Hit them where it hurts.

Oddly enough, if you try to put in just a birthdate it gives you a the message:

Sorry, but you are not eligible to view or download this content at this time. Activision is committed to providing the best entertainment in a secure online environment. Please see our privacy policy for more information.

If you go back and try to click back in, it goes straight to the same message.  No second chance for entering your data.  So not only is it a stupid policy, it's poorly implemented.

Freakin' maroons.

Thinking about this...

Maybe they weren't able to get any content on their website for those games, so instead of admitting that, they setup an age verfication system that no one would possibly use?

Just a thought.

Does it actually verify your card? Or can you just put in a bunch of numbers and tell Activisions shitty 'age verification' system to blow off?

What a stupid idea. And on a non-secured site none of the less.

Fuck that site.

I just put in a random birthdate (I put in 1-1-1956) and 4111-1111-1111-1111 for the credit card.

Worked just fine.

Just tried a fake credit card number with a different browser.  Gets the same message as when you don't put in a card number.  And then doesn't give you the option of trying again.

Assuming it's doing its "magic" via cookies, the cookie isn't obviously named.  I guess that's so the smarter juvenille delinquents can't find it.
