Gee, I'm shocked.
I can't manage to dredge up much sympathy for a person who had every possible chance and means to turn themselves around yet chose not to. Especially in light of the very real tragedy in Norway yesterday.

Anyone ever tell you you're a cold, heartless bastard, Gratch?
Bet you'd like to have someoine react like that if it were one of yours? Didn't think so.

I have to agree with Gratch in this case as well. There was a rather depressing interview with her mother recently where her mom said that she has already made arrangements and dealt with the grieving because she knows Amy will be gone soon. Her mom didn't expect her to last another year. There are some people who just dont' even care to try staying alive, and it's hard to find sympathy for them. (The jackass fella is another one. Sad someone died, but it's not like he didn't cause it and not like it wasn't an expected eventual outcome of the behavior)

I hope you're later able to look back on this and feel at least embarrassed, if not ashamed. Amy Winehouse killed herself. She's got nobody to blame but herself. Gratch is at least appreciative of his own life. EDIT: Two letters makes a difference.

A sad shame and waste of talent. When someone told me about her dying I was surprised but I shouldn't have been. She just couldn't turn things around. Things sounded dire after that disastrous concert in Serbia weeks ago. RIP, troubled Amy.

It is too bad but I have far more sympathy for the many broken homeless down and out people who have had little or no help and end up the same way as Amy. The difference, she had all of the advantages, people standing behind her willing to help and the means to get help and she chose to piss it all away. Like many before her its clear she couldnt handle the life style, hopefully she has found peace.
On a separate note, Darkstar, your avatar is offensive to many people for what it represents. You know this and still choose to throw it out there. Frankly Im surprised that something that steeped in predjudice has not been banned but then if you had an iota of class it wouldnt be an issue, you would have changed it by now. Just some food for thought there.

That flag means many different things to many different people, so it is your problem if you choose to label it as you did. As far as Amy? She's an idiot for having what she had and completely wasting it. I have no sympathy for her. .

Many? I can think of two: a symbol for human bondage and a symbol for states rights to allow human bondage.

I did say as much, but the former meanings are far overshadowed by what it came to stand for, much like the confederate flag. Very poor taste in choosing it for your avatar, especially since that particular usage of the swastika and colors wasn't formerly used prior to Nazi Germany afaik.

I have 0 idea of Amy Whinehouse's ability. I hear she's great. But that's the thing with the 27's. Dangit, I got a book about the '27s' for a gift. It's painful to read about the '27's'. Why'd you just give yourself up, in spite or your art, is beyond me. That said, you have to deal with the demon of substance. Unless you understand what it's like vomiting on the floor for hours on end just thinking about your drug of choice, you can't really relate. A LOT of people judge, but they just don't get it. There really is nothing close to addiction in human-kind other than 'falling' in love for a few months. That's as close as I can get verbally, and it still isn't close. It's 100x bigger.
I hope she RIP, but substance abuse is almost impossible to tackle. I won't criticize any of the 27s for it. The real tragedy is there really is no way to deal with substance abuse. It's all about human will, but to be human is to fail.

Addiction is a sickness. Like depression, ocd, and a plethora of other mental diseases. She was sick. Very sick. Does anyone in their right mind live like she did? Its just that the stigma of mental diseases is still very much alive. Would you be so flip with the death of somone who died of a physical disease they had been battling for years?

+1 the callousness in here is disappointing. Maybe if she was a talentless bum you all would be more sympathetic? The fact some of you use that to support your non sympathy makes you look jealous to be honest. An over abundence of talent or wealth or whatever does not add any value to one s life, I just do not understand that logic. All life is precious.
