America! Fuck yeah!The 4th of July holiday weekend is upon us. A time for outdoor BBQ's, partying by the pool, floating down the river, or simply enjoying time with friends. Tonight we have our usual Friday night softball double-header. Game time field temperature is expected to be 113 degrees. Tomorrow we're going Salt River Tubing with an army of friends and an even larger army of beer. Numerous area radio stations will be broadcasting all along the river, the atmosphere will be festive, and the drinking should be epic. Temperatures are expected to be around 117 degrees, but the forecast is "partly cloudy", so good thing for ice cold beer and floating in the water. Sunday we're heading to Party Cove at Lake Pleasant for our annual Party Cove Bender TM. Festivities always involve tying up to nearby boats, socializing with anyone around, stumbling from boat to boat like an enormous floating island, enjoying the refreshing water, guzzling copious amounts of beer, snacking on all sorts of tasty treats, meeting tons of people, and boobie pasties are as common as DUI citations for those stupid enough not to have a designated driver in attendance. Monday I've got my usual pharmacy volunteer shift at the hospital so I'm skipping out on fireworks. They were fairly anticlimactic last year and I'm in no mood to sit in the heat and then traffic to watch another mediocre show. The pharmacy will be a little slow so I'll be able to spend some more time with the pharmacy manager and filling medication dosages. What do the rest of you have planned for AMERICA! FUCK YEAH! weekend?

We're heading to an indoor amusement park tomorrow, then heading over to one of my wife's cousin's house for dinner. Sunday, we're having some friends over for BBQ, booze, and videogames. Monday, I will probably spend the day trying to recover from Sunday's drinking and making futile attempts at stopping time.

And the sale of fireworks is now legal in the state of Arizona, although the regulations are a bit vague and odds are Apache Junction will be a hot spot for "getting drunk and blowing shit up." There is a Phantom Fireworks sales tent on almost every corner throughout Phoenix and surrounding suburbs. For some reason firing off flaming objects in a desert that hasn't seen rain in months seems like a questionable idea. |

Nothing whatsoever. Our town had its parade and fireworks etc last weekend. They always do it a week early to avoid conflicting with Boston's celebration, so the actual holiday is redundant.

My inlaws throw a big party and then camp out on their mountain... so I'll be there and I'll run to hide in the house for bed so I can get some sleep  . Should be fireworks, campfire, food, etc though. |

Today was pretty a nice combo of productive and entertaining. Took the wife and daughter downtown to the Farmer's Market on the riverfront and got some ice cream. Came back home, played some games while the little one took a nap. My wife got a burst of energy and started cleaning out the garage. I went down to help and when all was said and done we had put a bigger dent in our clutter in the space of two hours than we have the last two years, which was a great feeling.
Rounded out the day by picking up stuff for a cookout tomorrow, bought my daughter a little swimming pool, and then me and her lounged in it for awhile while my wife made an awesome taco dinner.
Tomorrow we're having a family cookout, then grandma is babysitting the little one while my wife and I go to dinner and to see Super 8. Then Monday we're probably going to hit the beach with my daughter while daddy attempts to bodyboard for the first time in like 20 years.
