I was under the impression it was like March of next year, guess I was wrong.  Kinda funny that they would even bother to list 2010.

You know, back when everybody was DLing it 'cause they just "had to see it now," I told myself, "Yes, everyone is raving about it.  Yes, it looks really cool.  But you can wait and see it on a nice big screen with good sound.  It's just a few months, Nathan."

But I'll be damned if I'm waiting four more years!  BitTorrent, here I come...

I think some people were Dl'ing it and burning it to a DVD so that they could watch it on a big tv, in surround sound.

I somehow think that date is wrong.  it seems like a SUPER stupid move to push a movie 5 years...No one is going to really want it then.  Since they will have it.  And I would think that in 5 years, there would be something WAY better CGI wise.  I mean look at the leaps in the last couple years.

Look at the difference between Spirits Within, and Advents Children.

I doubt it is solidly placed at 2010.  More likely they pushed the date far ahead so they would not be erring by making it too short (since Amazon likely has no official release date).

IMO, I wouldn't read too much into this.

Like everybody else has said, it's obviously been delayed.  They just don't have a solid release date.  Still, I think it's rather odd that they didn't have at least a target.

The funny thing is that IMDB, which is owned by Amazon, has the USA "DVD premier" listed as January 10, 2006.

I know a certain gaming site I worked for flagged cancelled games with a 2010 release so we could easily purge them from the system.

Oh, it most definately is.  It's an incredible piece of art, that has more jaw-dropping moments that I could count.  However, you 1) have to be able to completely suspend your disbelief (physical laws such as gravity do not apply in this world), and 2) have to know the story and characters from the game.  People not familiar with the game should probably skip it, unless they really enjoy mindless action.

My understanding is that it is still due to be released in January, and I've seen quite a few ads in gaming (and other) magazines stating such.  Methinks Amazon just has their date wrong.

I dont know.  I dont think you have to really know FFVII, in order for it to be understood.  I does really help.  Thats for sure.  But if you are a fan of the genre, and like CGi movies.  You will most likely enjoy this movie.  The voices (at least in Japanese) sound great.  THe acting is done well.  The CGi is some of the best I have ever seen.
