great pics...and this is not just because of the quality of the pictures but it looks exactly like Alien,as though they could of been cut scenes from the film,as though it was made in the 70s,especially the big space suit helmets

new pics: they do say the lighting in the photos is a bit lighter than it is in the actual clips shown at Comic Con.

Regardless of the title change, I think this is still the Alien Prequel.

It is seems very odd when trailers get trailers doesn't it? I liked it and all but it just seemed silly.

Its funny that we were(and still maybe)wondering if this was to be an Alien Prequel...was it Ridley Scott himself who kept changing his story?,i ask because I got the Alien Blu Ray Boxset this week which was released i think last year, and it has a written introduction from Ridley Scott in the front of the booklet that came with it this is the forward in part The ALIEN ANTHOLOGY Blu-Ray set represents two years of hard work spread across the four films in HD and a simply massive collection of documentaries, deleted scenes and other revealing extras.I'm particularly pleased with the all-new picture and sound remastering of my own film,Alien. As i prepare to re-enter this world with my upcoming ALIEN prequel, watching ALIEN again on high definition Blu-Ray has been both helpful and inspiring to me - a reminder of where we started and a guide to where we are going.
Ridley Scott
2010
So how come it was so 'it is,it isn't' on whether it was an Alien prequel if he said this last year?

I read in some article that it is definitely set in the same universe, and that while there are things that will reference the Alien films - they were trying to down-play it as an Aliens prequel.

and it is outI actually thought the teasers did a better job of telling us about the story but it is still good. It does sort of clear up the whole "is it an Alien prequel" thing because you see a couple things that were seen on the planet in the first Alien so it would be hard to say it isn't a prequel.

Great trailer! You can see snippets of images that will answer long-lingering questions from 'Alien': The space-jockey, the derelict ship, a chestburster victim. All in there.. except for the actual alien itself (which should be kept secret and out of sigh for as long as possible). Ridley Scott knows what he's doing by maintaining the secrecy on this film for as long as possible. Can't.. wait.. to.. see.. this!

looks good,it will be interesting to see what happened on LV.426,seen as though the atmosphere on the planet in that trailer looks no where near as hostile as the previous Alien films
I just watched Alien and Aliens yesterday(i got the BR set),and i love the Prometheus title reveal in that trailer
anyone notice the shape of the eggs in that trailer, wonder if them being there for so long in the original film, reshaped them(maybe)..if that was what we saw anyway

Would you like to go back and read the book first? It's been years since I saw the original Alien. I went back and looked up the trailer, and the title reveal was over and done before any sequences were shown. This lasted the entire trailer. Distracting the entire time.

In Aliens the eggs the queen was laying looked just like they did in the original film. Not sure what we were seeing in that preview, other than the mildly annoying, ever-present title.

Think of the connotation that the eggs in here don't look like the eggs in 'Alien'? What intervened in the development of the xenomorphs in between the films. .... Us.

Us. eww,are you suggesting what i think you are suggesting??? Hey.. Charlize Theron.. doing 'naked pushups' over an egg. I'm just sayin' One thing I've always wondered about the 'Alien' franchised seems to be confirmed here--I always thought the alien xenomorph was a bio-weapon of some sort. On reading the 'Prometheus' wiki page, it says how the film is based on the myth of Prometheus.. who steals the fire from Zeus and gives it to humanity. If Ridley Scott and co are doing what I think they're doing, this movie's gonna be wicked!

I have been reading some comments on youtube pages, some have said they are concerned that Scott will suck all the mysteriousness out of the Space Jockey and ship etc another person said : This will complete the Trilogy. Prometheus, Alien and Aliens. There is nothing else afterwards. NOTHING. One thing i am going to bring up here which bothers me a little but not enough that i am going to avoid the movie or anything like that,is when they make a prequel to an old film they update it,those space suits look cool and the electronics etc,why couldn't they of made it so it really did look pre 'Alien' era....i had the same complaint about Star Trek:Enterprise,it just didn't feel like pre the first lot Just had another thought, all what happens in this film, must of been how the Company knew about the planet/ship/distress signal in the first place for The Nostromo(Alien 1) to be diverted to,i had always wondered that especially when they awoken 8 months from Earth

When you get to it, try to watch the 'Special Edition' version, it "includes scenes eliminated prior to the film's 1986 release which broaden the narrative scope and enrich the emotional impact of the film".

When I added those two films to my netflix queue I was bemused to see that they supposedly belong to a 5-disk "tetralogy". WTF? Looks like somebody was milking a franchise.

Oh, it got milked all right. Once they got to the terrible 'Alien Vs Predator' films, I checked out.

I haven't been following the updates on this, other than the recent brief trailer. So Natalie Portman is out and Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace are in? If Theron's Meredith will be a role similar to Sigourney Weaver's Lt. Ripley I can see that working. On the other hand, I can't really see Noomi Rapace performing a similar role despite my really liking her as an actress. It sounds like her character is as a scientist though, so I guess Theron's role will be the officer that Portman was rumored to be playing earlier. I hope that's the case, because if there's one young actress I could think of to play a gutsy role like Ripley, Theron would be near the top of my list.
