In the interests of keeping the uproar all in one thread, here is the link to my proposal over at the Octopus Overlords forum:

http://www.octopusoverlords.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23467

All GT'ers are welcome. ( I tossed a coin as to which forum to post on and OO won)

Thank you in advance for giving it your consideration.

I

1) am interested in being a member of the committee
2) can contribute programming (C++, UT Engine, Familiar with other engines), music, sound and voice work.
3) am familiar with design process.

In other words, "IN"  I've got some ideas that I'll be happy to throw at the comittee for initial projects.

Excellent Dreamshadow. Glad to see a programmer respond. I can do C++ grunt work, but my skills are still a bit weak, and I have no experience with Direct X... yet.

I'll write you down in my book as a potential committee member! (potential meaning, as long as we get enough contributors)

Dialogue, creative writing and story telling are my strong suits so if you need help in that regard, count me in.

Good to hear whiteboyskim! For now I'm looking for people who can commit to the committee (erg) ... then once it's formed, we'll make some decisions and let everyone who wants to contribute know what's going on, and what's needed.

Don't believe I have the time or skillsets you're looking for in a committee member, but if you need any of the following, I'll be more than happy to lend them when I can:

Graphics skills
Website skills
Nunchuk skills
Voice acting skills
Script doctoring skills
Nursing skills

If I think of any more skills, I'll let you know.

And good luck with this, Orgull.  Maybe I can help committee the sequel.  biggrin

I would love to help, I have several pretty damn good ideas, am a skilled writer, pretty good at testing, very bad at programming, etc., but I refuse to be a part of anything going on at OO, and the feeling is assuredly mutual.

Excellent! 2D or 3D or can you do both? Just wondering. We could really use a graphic artist on the committee, but np if you're busy.

I have an extensive network of industry contacts.  I'll help in the latter phases when we are looking to shop this around.  I can see a man about a horse for ya.

2D.  Illustrator and Photoshop are my weapons of choice.  When you're looking to start this up I'll be in my last (hellish) semester of nursing school, so I'm reluctant to promise time I may not have.  If I recall the OO thread correctly, there appeared to be a graphic artist or two there that could probably serve the committee far better than I.

*chuckles*

Lesse....

Computer  Science Major (who should have his degree he earned 3 years ago, but doesnt)...

So I can do most codework, or if not, get a book, spend 2 weeks and be fairly up to snuff in most languages  (Within reason, we do this in prologue and I book, lol)

Am quite creative (Took creative writing/writing fiction classes, do random things musically and whatnot) and would have no problems being an idea man...

Am Quite farmilliar with the design process due to having to help design teaching software for the severly handicapped for a project for shcool...  It sounds prettier than it works, but we learned about the Dream Curve, all the different phases of development and how to do them...

SO I'd liek to think I may be of some use hizah

Thanks for all the terrific replies!

@ Knightshade... mmm, contacts.

@ Semaj, would you like to/have time to be on the steering committee? With your programming background you'd be a real asset.

@ Dafones... done!

If the steering comittee has to do with Bull's, I might be a little hesitant

Depending on the time you need, I should be ok, just dont ask for 40 hours a week and I'll be a happy camper....  well thant and no killing my friday/saturday nights, I might need them, lol.

Bulls?

And don't worry, this whole thing will be a "spare time" project for everyone involved.

Ok: Today I'm going to start a new post in PC Gaming in General (At Octopus Overlords) with specifics on the formation of the committee. I will PM every member who offered to sit on the committee when I'm a little more alert (it's too early) with the linky.

If you are serious about this, why not get your own forum and site?  It doesnt take much work.

I'm going to have lots of free time (the new job is afternoon shift), so if it's independant of OO, I would be happy to assist.

We may gravitate that way, but for the moment OO and GT are very handy for communication and getting things set up. And for finding enough like-minded people to actually complete a project.

This is IMHO more of a community project (for now) as opposed to a commercial project. A way of getting people together to see who works well with who, what we can accomplish and what we can't, etc. Who knows where it will take us?
