I know you have more important things to do with Your time, God. But please, can't you spare a split-second of Your infinite attention to get this child off American Idol? Every week he sings, every week our eardrums bleed, and somehow he stays in the competition. Please get him off the show. At this point I don't care if you have to arrange for them to find out he's a child molester. Get rid of him. I don't care if you have to have him burned alive. Get him off the show. Please. I'll trade you a child if you'll get him off the show.
Satan, if you're listening, you too...

Howard Stern is on a HUGE kick to keep him on American Idol. He knows that he is the worst singer, but he things its fun to watch him continue to be shocked an amazed that he is still there. (And it makes Eric the Midget angry)
...
I've said too much.

That was hilarious today hearing ETM go at it with the Dave guy from VFTW.

I don't mean this badly at all, and it may not even make sense.
However, isn't American Idol an international phenomon? I am pretty sure Sanjaya has the entire country of India voting for him each night.

lol... no, the "Pop Idol" phenomenon is indeed international, but there are several different regional versions. I doubt the Indian community has the first clue who Sanjaya is.

God bless him, he's trying his little untalented, tone-deaf heart out. But voting him out is a mercy killing at this point. Thing is, though, he wasn't even the worst performer tonight. Phil should be keeping his suitcase packed.

The beauty of the DVR shrinks the 2 hour show into 10 minutes. I just skip through to hear Simon's comments on some of the bad contestants, and then listen to a snippet of Melinda Doolittle and the beatbox guy who my girlfriend likes to hear.

Really? See, while I think overall talent level is a bit lower than in years past, I think the participants themselves are more interesting. I would say the wife and I are more into this season that any other dating back to the Ruben Studdard year.

That Sanjaya guy is so bad he's past the 'fun to watch cause he's bad' William Hung level and gone into some 'fingernails on chalkboard' level. His one redeeming feature is his sister's rack, it ain't enough. I agree that the talent level overall is way way down this time around. However, I think the high point(Melinda) is far higher than in the last...well, no one on AI before has been as good as her, imo. Now I don't know she would do as a popstar, but I think it's clear she's a superior singer.

Amazingly enough, Sanjaya wasn't the most annoying thing about the show. The most annoying thing was that girl who kept crying through literally the ENTIRE show. Every time the camera switched over to a shot of her, which became more and more frequent through the show, I wanted to smack some sense into her. Oh, and Sanjaya singing the Kinks song was a total train wreck. Simon's comment was classic: "Well I think the crying girl just about says it all!"

Yeah, but how annoying is Melinda after the 8th time she's been told, "You're AWESOME, you're GREAT, if you're not in the finals it's a crime" and she keeps acting like she has no idea. The act is getting a little old and it's annoying me big time.

Exactly... I was once again not surprised by the folks voting; Sundance was worth watching, Sanjaya needs to go by-bye.
They should have a wildcard round where 4 folks are brought back.

If Melinda is an "act", its the shyest, sweetest, least obvious, completely un-affected "act" I have ever seen. I think thats baloney. The girl is probably clinically shy and it shows. I'm sure thats why shes been a backup singer most of her career.

Perhaps tone deaf is a genetic thing? To be fair to him, back when they were at the audition level I thought his voice had a very nice sound to it. The thing is, ever since they got to the level where they have to sing an entire song, and 'perform', he has been just awful. He is giving his all, from what I can tell, so that just makes it sadder. I believe his family is having a good time because the kid does have ALOT of fans, he's gotta have some kind of future performing regardless of how he does now on AI. It's all gravy for him from here on out, no wonder they are happy.

We're in big trouble unless they find a way to get him off the show. Maybe a bribe perhaps? By surviving tonight he now qualifies for the summer tour, so he will get to go on the road with the rest of them. How'd you like to pay for that?

She's got a bright career in the porn industry. As to Sanjaya's performance, meh.I personally would have kept the "looks like beyonce" chick over him. His performance felt stretched, and he doesn't have any vocals to speak about. As to Melinda, I think there is a special quality about her. I do mean that in terms of being "challenged" ... when they were critiquing her she honestly looked surprised. I suspect that she's about 80% normal, but there's that 20% ... I dunno.

I refuse to watch a show with a WWF level of realism. But I keep seeing clips of it on news programs, the whole crying girl planted in the audience thing was pretty pathetic though, I caught her on Keith Olbermann, holy shit!
Oh, they also showed Sanjaya singing, that guy has to be the worst singer I have ever heard.

I was swapping channles tonight and saw the guy in question. UGH, kill me now.

Ah, so you DO watch AI!
Jordin sung her way out of the competition tonight. "Hey, Baby" was an awful, awful song choice.
Gina did amazing. She looked amazing. She sounded incredible.
And Sanjaya has done worse!
Melinda continues to tick me off. Ryan even said it this week, "Why are you always looking so surprised!?" It's annoying! Especially her interaction with Gwen. Has she sung a ballad yet?
Phil Stacey is a do-do bird.
Chris Richardson may be good-looking, but his singing is bland.
Haley! She stands so WEIRD when she sings! She reminds me of that girl in high school who thought she was sooooo damn good at singing...and while she can sing, she can't sing that great...
Lakisha = meh. Blake = meh. Annnnnd I'm forgetting somebody...oh, Chris. Yeah, had to look it up to remember because the performance was very forgettable.

Blake is my favorite, but he didn't do any beat box stuff tonight - bummer.
I just wanted to toss gasoline and a match onto Sanjaya's hair.

Gina's was the only performance I liked last night. Melinda's was good, but I don't care for Donna Summer. Won't bother wasting breath on Sanjaya. Blake can go sooner rather than later too -- I'm tired of hearing 'how new and fresh' he is from the judges, when one of those times were singing a 311 song, and last night the 311 cover of the Cure (sounding -exactly- the same). But I can't stand the beat-boxing, which I know biases me against him too. Redneck Chris bugs me with his "verbal olympics". Frankly, just about everyone can go
