I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts/predictions on who goes 1st this weekend. From what I've read, that spot is going to be a toss up between Nathan MacKinnon of the Halifax Moosehead (QMJHL) and Seth Jones of the Portland Timbers (WHL).  I got to watch their play in the Memorial Cup tournament and I was damn impressed with both of them, so I wouldn't necessarily predict one over the other. As per usual, the top 10 in most of the rankngs I've seen is too crowded with QMJHL and OHL players. I'm betting some of the WHL players that are ranking  10-20 get taken in the first 10 picks.

Jones is going to be a stud of a d-man, but I don't see any way the Avalanche pass up on MacKinnon, he is just that good, and honestly Drouin is right there with the two of them.

Anxiously awaiting the draft tomorrow.

Sakic and Roy, but particularly Sakic,  have been saying for nearly two weeks around here they are taking Mackinnon and not Jones.

I'm happy either way as an Avs fan.

Wow just wow! Canucks give Schneider to the Devils for a 9th round pick! Man did I ever not see that coming. Yeah - Canucks take a decent center from the Knights of the OHL. Boo - the Canucks continue their hatred for the WHL!  Yet another good reason not to bother following the Canucks this year. Screw you GM Mike Gillis, can't wait until your tenure is up.

Oh well, Calgary seemed to be on with their pick, so with any luck he'll be playing on the Heat this year.

LOL Vancouver.

I know, I know, easily the worst trade in years.

A friend of mine/Kings blogger on Twitter: @theroyalhalf Cory Schneider for Bo Horvat. Jon Bernier for Matt Frattin, Ben Scrivens, a 2nd Round Pick and $500k.

I just... I don't even.

The funny thing is the Oilers apparently offered a much better deal, but the Canucks passed on it. The easy explanation is that they didn't want Schneider competing against them in the division, but I'm wondering if that has anything to do with MacTavish bailing as head coach of their AHL affiliate to return to the Oilers.

I'm predicting that at sometime this season Torts and Bobby Lu murder each other in a battle of words. Oh well, at least I'll catch the drama of that on the late night sports channel.   icon_twisted
