Yeah TBH, Marty is scaring the crap out of me. Both of the Devils goals were 'flukey', but if Marty is gonna allow just one in Game 6, Quick needs to be perfect and the bounces have to go the Kings way.

Unfortunate the season will end like that.
Gionta wasn't against the glass, so that one didn't count?
Such a fun series. What a shame.

Mwahaha Bernier. Now you know why Mike Gillis jetisoned him faster than a missile silo launch. Give Coach Deboer credit though, for most of the playoffs he's had him playing well above his IQ level.

HA - Now the refs just running picks for the Kings.
Not that they may not have won this thing anyway but boy does this suck.

And now that's its looking like we'll see a cup presented tonight, an update on the other/AHL Calder Cup. The Toronto Marlies (Leafs' affiliate) chocked in the final round and got swept 4-zip by the Norfolk Admirals (Lightnings' affiliate). Even worse, they got decimated in the final game on Saturday losing 6-1. I'm thinking tonight's Stanley Cup game is heading in the same direction.

It'll be interesting to watch Bettman hand The Cup to Pierre Racicot and then see Dan O'Rourke hold up the Conn Smythe.

Just want to congratulate the Kings and their fans. It's an awesome, awesome feeling and a long time in the making.
They turned it on and dominated when it mattered most. Great team and they deserve it.
Enjoy every second!

Did you forget 2004? That team had no business getting as far as it did, and really should have won (stupid Game 6).

Congratulations to the LA Kings, I can't think of a more deserving team in recent years to have won the Cup! But other than that these playoffs were maybe the worst in recent memory.

Congrats to the Kings.. much deserved win.
But who calls a 5 min. major in a potentially series deciding finals game? Sums up the entire season with regards to officiating.

But who calls a 5 min. major in a potentially series deciding finals game? Sums up the entire season with regards to officiating.
Just my .02 on that and remember, I am a Kings fan tried and true. While no one wants the officials to decide a game, they most definitely did not in this game. That was a vicious boarding hit. There was an injury from the hit that actually required stitches and clearance by a doctor before they would allow Scuderi back on the ice. There is no question that Bernier made no attempt to slow, or ease up knowing full well that Scuderi didn't know he was there (head down facing the glass and working the puck). It was a text book board and a text book call that deserved 5 minutes. Did the call cost them the game? Maybe but really want cost New Jersey the game was that they allowed 3 goals in under 5 minutes. THAT was the clincher, well that and the fact that they allowed 3 more after that. Look the teams are in the finals, and things happen. If you cannot hold your composure and overcome a bit of adversity early on, you are going to lose. And that is what happened. Could they have come back after 3? Sure. Could they have killed the major? Possibly but certainly letting in 3 goals was *unusual* especially for NJ. That said, I agree that the officiating was definitely below par...for all the teams. In the entire series, we got bad calls, the refs let us get away with things that should have been called, but I really think it was equally bad all around. Anyway, that is my perspective and it might be slanted but hey...WE WON THE CUP!!

The refs had to call five minutes there. Bernier came from a LONG way with a full head of steam and Scuderi was visibly injured. There's no way that's not a five min major.

100% agree about the Bernier hit being a 5 minute major. Was it a game changing penalty - maybe? I'd say that had to do more with the peformance of the Devil's defense and PK though, which IMO was terrible last night.

I'm not arguing the call, I just think it's funny that NOW they decide to make good calls. For sure the officiating was poor in these playoffs and much of the regular season. As I said before, I on average witnessed better officiating in lower leagues this year, so IMO the NHL has some work cut out for themselves. Whether they actually do anything about it remains to be seen.
