Well, as a Pens fan, that last game was an absolute embarrassment and I am extremely disappointed in my team. Hopefully this offseason we can find a way to unload the Paul Martin contract.

If the league upholds the automatic 1-game ban for Backstrom, I'll officially be out of optimism.

FYI - leo - I hope facts don't get in the way of your opinion that Halak was supposedly diving in Game 2, since he didn't even dress for Game 3 and is listed as day-to-day. Yeah, the Blues current backup is Jake Allen who has never played a single NHL game. I was surprised the Sharks did not take any runs at Elliott at all, considering they weren't afraid to deliver blatant head shots in Game 2. Of course, paying for it at the end of Game 2 might have explained why they would not go after Elliott.

The Penguins can't even let Crosby fight his own altercations. Dude, if he wants to throw down with Hartnell, then let him. Adams had to resort to pulling Hartnell's hair. Really? Eh, I don't have much of a problem with that. It was a smart play by Adams honestly. I would not want my top player going against Hartnell. Edit: I also have no idea how they haven't tossed Neal yet, just to keep the game somewhat under control. the problem is Crosby grabbing Hartnell and Adams has to jump in and start beating on Hartnell because Crosby grabbed him??? That's pussified shit. Chris Therien: "Crosby is an absolute joke."Homer tirade, or valid observations? Odds are the NHL will be disciplining his disparaging remarks about the league's golden boy. Multi-game suspension from color commentary? In terms of the game's physicality, Adams already suspended for one game, and more suspensions could follow.

Yeah I found that odd that he didn't dress since he was laying on the ice holding his head, but then the team said he has a lower body injury. Odd he never touched or favored anything but his head.

There was nothing reviewable/suspendable there.

Wow. 3 days to review Shaws "charge" on Smith? Really? And magically, after staying in the game and saying afterwards he was fine, Smith doesnt practice yesterday. What a bunch of bs. Man is this league getting bad. Shannie better get his shit together.

Skilled, yes but still terrible in regards to being a hockey player. Very poor sportsman for being considered the face of the sport. I think more people are becoming aware of his antics finally. I can't wait to see what happens in the next game.

I'm wondering if we'll see a lot more referee involvement given how quickly they lost all control over the last game. They looked absolutely helpless and completely at a loss as to what to do. If not, this game could get all kinds of ugly. If the last game with 8 ejections is any indicator as to what to expect tomorrow, we might even see the coaches come to blows. Either every questionable action will come under immediate scrutiny, or the game will quickly degrade into absolute chaos.

I'm actually shocked at how bad the hockey is this year.
In my 30+ years of watching hockey I've never seen such blatant disregard for each others safety. Head shots will never get removed from the game, simply because they players don't care.. they keep doing them.
If someone had told me the next Pens/Flyers game was cancelled I wouldn't be the least surprised.

Despite the fact that in the past I liked Asham as a role player on the Pens, I doubt he ever sees the ice again in a Pens uniform. http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/s_791619.htmlPenguins majority co-owner Mario Lemieux was disappointed with his club`s overall lack of discipline and embarrassed with the dirty plays by Asham and Neal in Game 3, sources close to Lemieux said.
Matt Cooke is an example that supplementary discipline can work, he drastically changed his game, and was a very effective player this year, but the league has gotten out of hand. I doubt I am going to even bother watching game 4 as I am ashamed of the way my team has handled themselves.

Why the Kings are up 3-0, Brilliant coaching from Sutter:
'Best way to score goals in playoffs, on PP or not, is to get the shit pounded out of you in front of net and somebody shoots the puck'

Something the Sharks have never done and it drives me crazy. They won't even move the OTHER team's guys out of the front when they post up. It's crazy.

3 F-ING GAMES FOR SHAW???????????
WTF IS SHANAHAN DOING?????
The disparity of penalties in the NHL has become a total joke.
Smith better NOT have his diving ass on the ice tonight.
What a f-ing joke.

Shitheadanan even says in his little video that Smith suffered no injury and Shaw has no history.
So the logical conclusion is.........3 games?
Would have been better off shoving his head into the glass.

Eh... I don't mind the suspension length for that. You can't hit the goalie at all and you certainly should not hit him in the head if you do (even if it was on accident).
Three games is a lot, but like I said the Shanaban is going to come a lot harder at this point due to him miffing quite a few to start the playoffs and the insanity that is the Pens/Flyers series.
Still, it's a 100% avoidable hit by Shaw is one that he should have avoided. Goalies aren't fair game.

Fuck that. Why make 1 team pay for fucking up other calls? It's not just a 3 game suspension, it's 3 PLAYOFF games. If it was the regular season, you're telling me that hit was worth 6-9 games? Bullshit. Oh...and I thought it was mandatory to remove a player that has been hit in the head for their own safety. Send them to the quiet room for evaluation. If the hit was THAT bad, why didnt that happen? Smith never left. Finished the game. No injury.

I'm not saying it's fair given what's happened, but it's certainly understandable (again given what's happened).
Shaw did two things that the Shanabanner absolutely railed him for: 1) He hit the goalie. Cannot do. 2) He hit the goalie in the head. Cannot do.
It's not fair, but you also can't argue he didn't do those things, so sucks for him. It also sucks for him that he's Shaw and not Weber. Them's the breaks.
Also based on this suspension, I am pretty sure Aaron Asham and James Neal will be suspended for all of this season and next season. Kidding, sort of.
