That Wings game was brutal. When they go to OT, I always expect the loss... but they were playing their asses off, and looked like they were going to come up with it... that looked to me like a must stop shot against Howard... he could see it, it was pretty far out... I just don't get it.

IMO the difference in the series is Niemi. Howards playing well, but he does look shakey at times.

I'm glad he's on our side this year. I hated watching him stand on his head against us last year when we were swept out of the Conf Finals.

Come on Bruins, finish the Flyers off and cut the Bolts rest short. Heres hoping Lucic comes up with a big game like he used to in his Giants glory days.

Well whenever our series comes to its inevitable conclusion I'm jumping on the Tampa bandwagon. Yzerman is their GM, Guy Boucher looks like a badass. What else could you want in a bandwagon team?

Yeah, I wish the wings were up against shaky, first round Niemi.
Howard is just terrible at OT. They were 4 - 10 in OT during the season... not good. They were playing soooo well too. Ugh.

Oh..and BTW Ovi, don't ever guarantee a win unless there's a cubic millimeter of chance your team can actually pull one off.

If you want anyone's rest cut short, the Canucks/Predators series has to end, too.

If you want anyone's rest cut short, the Canucks/Predators series has to end, too. True, but only if the Sharks really do keep their foot on the pedal and finish off the Wings. Because Luongo has proven to be terrible in any layover situation - wouldn't want him waiting around for more than 1/2 a week. As well, at this point I care more about the Bruins being rested to beat the bolts that any other series.

Great win by the Canucks tonight to take a 3-1 series lead. The Sedins actually showed up in a big way and Henrik was terrific at the end, winning a faceoff and then getting free to score the empty net clincher. Another excellent game by Kesler who got a goal and 2 assists - go Kes go!

So I wonder who the Wings are going to pick up in the off season now that they're out. I figure Draper, Modano, and probably Ozzy will be let go to either retire or move elsewhere. Lidstrom is hard to guess. They need some new blood to cover some of their holes for next season.
Ah well, here's to October and a new season.

Crazy game. I hate leaving the door open. I hope we win game 5. My heart is going to fizzle out. Well...even though the Sharks lost they played a hekcuva game coming back from a 3 goal deficit. And Niemi's saves in the last 1/2 of the 3rd were just sick. Wings won because they elevated their game despite blowing a good lead. Can't wait for game 5.

Wings won because the first goal was on an offsides play by a good foot and the refs refused to call penalties against the Wings unless they were blatant. Not until the 3rd period did the Sharks have a power play and it was pretty clear the Wings weren't playing that clean a game. Thornton literally got chopped down from behind 3 times - not one call on any of those trips. On the game winning goal, Helm trips the Sharks player chasing the puck to the point preventing him from challenging the guy playing it allowing the puck to stay in the zone and eventually becoming Helms game winner. Please - don't give us the elevated game crap when it was evident the Sharks were the better team not getting any calls at all. Heck - other Wings fans even agree on this one - just not one of the ridiculously homerific ones here. And they blew the lead because the Sharks are playing better hockey over 60 minutes - not just playing hard for the first 15 and the last 5.

Canucks proved tonight that they can't ever take the easy route, losing 3-4 to Nashville. I guess a bit to their defence the Preds scored the flukiest goal I've seen all season to tie it up at 2-2 in the 2nd. Still the Canucks should have been able to win, but got sloppy in the 3rd. Another great night for Kes though, who scored 2.

The Predators sure have gotten a few very lucky bounces (the tying goal in Game 2 also was a goofy one), and I think (HOPE) the Canucks take game 6 in easy fashion - other than Game 2, the Canucks have been the better team. Rinne has been the difference, as expected. Luongo has been very good too, but Rinne is the only reason this series isn't finished. I'm hoping that the Canucks are finally starting to figure him out (shoot stickside), and will finally see some production from the twins (who did look good yesterday, just can't convert!).
But I <3 Kesler. He's easily Vancouver's MVP. What a season and a game. Tipped slapshot to the face cuts his chin open, misses one shift to get clean up, comes back shortly after to score his 2nd goal of the game.

Hmm, chance that both Datsyuk and/or Franzen may be out for Game 5 tonight. If no Datsyuk Sharks in 5.

Wow, the Dork goes down like a Douglas fir in a hurricane with just the lightest shin tap. I mean what was that - he's was faking painful grimaces between fits of laughter in the penalty box.

Agree that was silly. Why is Franzen still in game though after pushing ref and attacking Jumbo after whistle?

Maybe this is going to be a call silly things, and let the rest go kind of game.

Nah, Wings are done after tonight. They haven't been doing anything productive yet. Howard is keeping them in so far. Fell right back into the style of the first three games of the series with the ho-hum efforts.
