I see a couple Sharks players on Twitter asking why Kings coach Terry Murray didn't shake hands after the game...what's up with the coach?

I noticed they had to had "post lockout" to it not being customary.  That's because it was customary for the rest of the history of the league.  Lame defense from an obviously biased source.

Well yes, Murray is biased in that he is defending himself.  Good job figuring out that one, Matlock.

I'm 100% serious.  He's not the first, nor will he be the last coach to do that.  Certainly Terry Murray is a dick (and I actually dislike him as a coach), but to make a big deal out of this is absolutely retarded.

Bob McKenzie agrees:
@TSNBobMcKenzie - LAK coach Terry Murray took flak from SJS players for not shaking hands last night. Did not deserve it. And here's why.
@TSNBobMcKenzie - Talked to many NHL coaches today. Many of them simply do not do it, view handshake as player ritual. Some do shake but say no obligation.

Wow not at all the game I expected - was expecting a high scoring game, not a goaltender showdown. I'm not sure who was on the ice for the Hawks shorthanded, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Erhoff and Elder on D. Those 2 have been bumbling Keystone cops much of the time.

What a great game. What a horrible turnover.

So in the west it'll be Sharks vs. Wings and Canucks vs. Preds.

Good luck Nashville. You're going to need divine intervention to have any hope.

I'd have to disagree on that; out of all the western teams the Pred's stacked up well against the Canucks this season. And if you asked fans here before the playoffs began which team they didn't want the Canucks to face 1st round, a majority would have said Nashville. Both Luongo and Scheider are going to have to be better if they want to match Rinne.

After this, man am I ever pumped for game 7 of the Canadiens-Bruins. smile thumbsup

Fell asleep on the couch during 2nd intermission and missed the whole damn thing. Woke up at 2:30 and the game was over and Twitter and Facebook had exploded.

Just saw the goal on Youtube. Epic fail by Campoli.

The Canuncks are trying to kill me.  Between the late nights, and my blood pressure the next series had better be over quick!

That was Canucks vs. Crawford... Chicago stunk and looked like their backpeddling/tired selves.
Kudos to Kessler for an awesome series despite not scoring.

Sharp had the game on his stick on that PP... epic save by Luongo to save the series... after that the hawks just seemed to break down... couldn't clear the zone, turnover after turnover... you could feel that Canucks goal coming... but at the start of OT, it looked like Chicago was going to get it done.

Good stuff.

I like the west coast game because I can generally watch the whole thing, but I dislike the west coast game because I'm often falling asleep in the 3rd, and definitely past my bedtime by any OT... looks like I'm going to have two more must watch west coast games to stay awake through... and 3 more should watch...  (that's two DET/SJS games and three VAN/NSH games slywink)

LUONGO!!!!!  I thought for sure we'd see a choke. Crawford was amazing though. I root for VAN, but I wouldn't have been sad to see the Hawks go through.

I am rooting for a Canadiens / Canucks Stanley Cup Playoff (just to see a Canuckistanian coup of the NHL).

Also, I want Vancouver to win. biggrin

That was an epic game.  Crawford was a stone wall out there, but his team just crapped it up.  Vancouver definitely appeared to want it more with the intensity of their play.

Canucks' forecheck was unrelenting... they were hounding the defense so hard on shift changes... chicago would have to make 5 passes to get out of their own zone even if they had total puck control.

Remembering the Buffalo Sabres as written by a Philly sports blog:

Quote
Tiny bits of rust fall from the sky. A group of mourners, mostly in black Dominik Hasek jerseys, sit before a medium sized tombstone in the honey barbeque sunset.

"Here lie the 2010-11 Buffalo Sabres who, in the true spirit of the city, came close before failing."
...
Pegula pulls out a piece of cheese steak-stained paper, unfolds it and continues to speak as the crowd sits in a daze.
...
"But I am not here to assign blame on such a sad occasion, because even though it's my first true hockey love, the Philadelphia Flyers, that get to continue on their run at a 3rd Stanley Cup as a result of our elimination, I'm still as sad as if I were actually a Sabres fan. I truly am. The pain of a bad investment is a burden no businessman carries lightly. It also makes me sad that the wonderful citizens of the second largest city in the state, that's right, number two, give yourselves a hand..."
...
"Also, sad that assembling a group of no-name players like Kyle McCormick and Bobby Butler didn't lead to Lake Placidian levels of success, especially with the Olympic MVP in net. And I know the Olympics were 15 months ago but I'm still going to say it - Olympic MVP. There."
...
"Seven… We went seven games into the playoffs, not six like last year. And I'll promise you this right now because I'm a promising type of guy -- we will make it into the second round next year before being knocked out by a team whose skill and investment to winning far exceeds our own. I've already commissioned a local artist to turn that distracting Rick Martin tribute behind the net from a '7' into a '2', so we do not forget our dreams and ambitions for the 2011-12 season.

"Yes, the future is bright. I stand here now and think about how much our team achieved with centers Mr. Glass and Ludo, of our child-sized wingers, of our teenage defensive core, our Olympic MVP goalie who we've luckily only wasted 9 years of his pro career, and it makes me tear up with joy.

Not so much a playoff topic, but Pavel Datsyuk, Ryan Kesler and Jonathan Toews have all been nominated for the Selke trophy. Not much of a surprise about any of the 3 nominations. I'm thinking with the landmark season Kesler had, he wins it this time.
