The official Apple trailer page is now online

This is the trailer that plays in front of "Transformers" and is about the only thing out there short of Harry Potter that even comes close to stealing Michael Bay's thunder. The viral marketing campaign is in full force on the internet with the official site getting a minor, though significant, update recently. But you want to know what's really kinda funny?

JJ Abrams spoke at with Harry at AICN and confirmed that there are multiple sites out on the internet right now and that NO ONE HAS FOUND THEM YET.

Stuff like this is a lot of fun in my opinion.

After I Love Bees turned out to be better than Halo 2 itself, I'm kind of burned out on using this stuff as any indicator of the end product.

I'm still trying to figure out what this movie is about after I saw the trailer.   Neat idea the way they are marketing the movie

Well, you gotta love the internet.  It took, what, less than a week for a leaked shakycam screencap to surface?  It's a pretty interesting direction to take a movie like this, but if anyone can pull it off, Abrams can.  Spoilered in case you want to keep the suspense.

Spoiler for Hiden:
On that site, hold your mouse over the center icon till the lights all light up, then wait for the graphic of the ball with NY behind it.  Wait for it to open, click on the ball and take note of the sequence the buttons light up in.  Press each of the symbols in the same order as they light up when you first touched it.  When you press them all sequentially you get a very interesting video clip.  After that a new puzzle appears...

Note the subject on the tab - look to the stars for help.  Click on the blue star and your email client will prepare an email to '[email protected]'.  Click on the white star and you get what seems to be the alphabet (26 chars) in another script.  I assume this has something to do with the code on the puzzle.

The response to the email you sent earlier is:

'I think I’m safe, for now.  Wherever I go it isn’t long before they find me.

It seems The Mezin are connected to every aspect of humanity, from culture and religion to our most advanced technology

I have to be more careful contacting all of you.  When I began I thought I could safely speak about his writings and perhaps save us all...

but now it seems I will have to find a more subtle way to share his visions.

If this is the first message you have received from me do not give up hope!  There are others that have gone before you, the way has been found, you only need to search and you will find the answers you seek.  We will all have a role to play.  We are getting stronger, our voices will be heard!

I have more of Haas’s writings, once I find a secure way to transmit them I will leave you clues to find them.

The more I read the more I realize Haas was right………

Did you figure out the 2nd puzzle? I assume you have to match up 4 symbols but I have no clue as to how.

Check that, got it. Have no clue what to do with the 3rd one though.

There is a new picture up on the 1-18-08.com website. This one is marked at 01/18/2008 12:48am.

Unfortunately, it gives even less details than the last picture. Explosion? Gas?

Nah, that one's for Lost.
Given that JJ is associated with both of them, I wouldn't be surprised if they are mutual. I remember reading a rumor online that Ethan Haas was somehow affiliated with Hanso/Dharma Initiative.

An analysis of the hype/viral marketing can be found here.

The Ethan Haas site I linked earlier is likely from a completely unrelated game.

It's The Blair Witch Project coupled with a monster movie. The basic setup is this - a cleanup crew finds a video recorder in the aftermath, picks it up, rewinds it then hits play. The rest of the movie is what happens. Apparently, it's a very low budget film but it's written by Drew Goddard of LOST and Angel fame with Abrams producing.

Whew, that sounds pretty cool actually. I like Goddard's writing and I'd have to say that most of the wierdness in Lost is probably due to the executive producers: Lindelof and Cuse.

I think after the last Godzilla movie (Godzilla: Final Wars) they said that they would be taking a 10 year break from the films.

I didn't think the Blair Witch Project was really all that great.  Hopefully this one is decent.
