http://www.wpcentral.com/elop-nokia-and-microsoft-unveiling-all-windows-phone-8-tomorrow

I'm looking forward to newer, faster hardware.
After using the way they use contacts, I'd be pretty sad if WP8 falls short and had me going iOS / Android.

Apparently, Nokia are banging the war drums today....

This of course is in reference to Android OS.

I'll probably post some updates here when they have news.

The feed has been choppy here - likely due to work. Watched the first hour or so.

I want a Nokia 920. I do not want yellow.

I'm quite proud of my piles, thank you very much!  I even have special pants that allow me to show them off.

So after dissing windows phones and now having seen reviews / previews of the Nokia 920 I''m quite interested given my last 3 phones were iPhones and my lackluster interest in the iPhone5... Aren't these supposed to be in ATT stores this Friday?

I think they're already available.  I did hear that Walmart is going to have a decent price on them.

I actually checked in one AT&T store this weekend - they weren't available yet (or had sold out quickly) but they were expecting more today.

I'm actually considering upgrading my work phone from a 3GS to a Lumia 920 - a little more "MS-friendly" and with some interesting ecosystem possibilities. Live Tiles could be really interesting to me, from the perspective of apps that could be designed with them in mind.

Called a few days ago and my local ATT corp store didnt have a display model. Called just now and they do.... Gonna go have a look at one tomorrow. Next phone is gonna be the 920 or a Galaxy S3, just getting tired of the iPhone craze lol.

been looking at the reviews and I'm half tempted to get the Lumia 920 also.  again, I wish they had a 64 gig model, but when I look at the difference in price it looks dumb to pay $200+ for an extra 32 gigs of space.

f&^&ing Rogers. BLACK ONLY for the Nokia 920.

I want yellow or red. Ah well, I guess I'm going to find me an unlocked non-branded one.

The 820, 822 one don't have the fancy camera, but they are expandable and most of the other features are there. They are 4.3" vs 4.5", and IIRC the 820 is 8GB+64GB MicroSD, the 822 is 16GB+64GB expandable and the front-facing camera is 720p rather than the 820's VGA.

It isn't a solid phone, so you can switch out the case and battery - some cases include the NFC and wireless charging.

Verizon is getting the 822, FWIW.

I heard the different color ones are a bit slippery, so black (which only has a matte finish) may be the way to go if you don't want to risk dropping it.

Like its predecessors, the Lumia 900 and 800, and starting with the N9, the Nokia Lumia 920 has a colored unibody polycarbonate shell with glossy and matte finishes. Available colors include glossy yellow, glossy red, glossy white, matte cyan,[3] matte gray and matte black.

Meh. I'd want to hold one. The problem is, Rogers is giving me the Model T choice... any color I want, as long as it's black.

Picked up a black 920 today. It was extremely easy to get all my contacts over from my iPhone. There is a Nokia app that pulls them  all over via bluetooth. Nice phone but damn after having used an iphone since 07-08 its all so alien, it'll def take me a while to figure everything out. Probably gonna keep my iP4 and use it as a ipod / game player since I already have a ton of games for it. I do like the neat XBL integration in the new phone.

Amazon is listing it for $49.99 now, and I just saw a rumor that it might be lower on Black Friday, but they don't have a free charger with it so it could end up being equal to what I'd pay through AT&T.  I went to the local AT&T store to check it out but they were sold out, stopped by Walmart and got the 'HUHN?' look when I asked for it.

I wouldnt have been able to use amazon as I used the upgrade that was on my sons line and that thing you have to agree to when getting a subsidized phone from them prevents you from moving the phone to a diff number or making plan changes for a period of time or they can charge you a hefty fee if the carrier reports it back to them.

Wow... Last night phone was on full charge and I didnt have the battery saver thing on to idle background processes if battery gets low and it was dead by 4:30AM.... I'm pretty sure I know what did it tho as my daughter had been fiddling with it and left several apps / games open (didnt use <- to exit them).

Update: After changing some settings it lasted nearly 48 hours on a single charge.

looks like it is LTE.  and Amazon just lowered their price, I'll be contacting them to see if I can get the cheaper one since I ordered less than a half hour ago.

[edit]  damn, now it looks like I may not get it until mid-January at the earliest due to backorders.  I may end up cancelling altogether.

[edit 2] OK, looks like their site was just running slow when I switched over from new customer to upgrade; looks like the new customer is the 1 cent deal and when you hit 'upgrade' it takes a moment or two to update the price to $19.99.

Ok, so after living with this thing for the last week, the one thing I'm not digging is the email client, esp on my corp exchange account. It sometimes pulls an email into a thread that doesnt belong.

I dont think so as they dont get pulled in on my iPhone 4 to the wrong thread (which I kept) and can access corp email via wifi. I was going to try on my daughters Galaxy S2 but when  I set up my corp email on her phone it was going to enforce all kinds if restrictions on the phone so I cancelled.

I have been considering the HTC Windows Phone 8x based mostly on the slightly smaller size compared to the 920, does anybody have one of those or have you tried one out?

I figured with my T-Mobile contract expiring it would be a good time to switch to Verizon and get a new phone at the same time.

I just got an error today on my 4s informing me that jail broken devices are permitted.

Crap.

I've been using it fine since June.

The HTC Phone looks nice too.  They make great hardware.

liking the Lumia 920 so far.  my only quibble is the sync software will only let me choose whole albums when I go to sync music to the phone, but when I switch to the phone it'll let me choose to delete certain songs.  seems like it'd be better to have the option to select individual songs in the first place.

day 2 update:  battery life seems bad.  went from 100% to 77% just in sleep mode overnight, then 58% just a few hours later.  looked around and saw some suggestions of stuff to disable, plus I may let the battery drain down all the way before I recharge it to see if that helps.

day 4:

didn't charge the phone at all last night and it's at 50% battery life after not being charged for 1 day and 13 hours.  I turned off feedback to Nokia/MS, near field communications (tap the phone against another phone with it to share stuff) and the Nokia Drive beta, and set it to automatically check emails daily (figure I can just as easily hit sync when I want to check).

got a bunch of music synced, but I think I may invest in a dedicated MP3 player again as my music collection keeps growing, and by the time I can upgrade again it may be bigger than 64 gigs.  it is possible, when I got my iPhone 1 it was 16 gigs and by the time I got the 32 gig iPhone 4 I had about 16 gigs of music, and now I have over 32 gigs, so if I keep on adding music it means I will be breaking the 64 gig barrier by July 2014.

If you rate your music (heart, broken heart) I believe you can tell the sync software to leave off the stuff you don't want (even within established playlists).

I'm not sure though - this is a function I'm familiar with through the current Zune software for WP7.

Also, here's a camera guide for the Nokia Lumia 920.

Let us know when you get the camera update (with pics showing the difference!! - take a picture before, then update, then the same pic after).

Thanks!

CeeCay,
Google Music and Amazon Cloud are your friend, assuming your data plan can handle it.

I only use Google Music, which currently allows you to have access to 25,000 songs, which is more than enough for me.

Not sure about Amazon other than its tbs same type of service.
