if I had to pick one character to bite the dust next week it'd be Matt.  it feels like he's been given just enough screen time to connect with the group for his death to hit them big time.

Season finale was awesome!  The thing I love most about TVD is how they set things up in an almost obvious and inevitable way, yet as I watch it I am consistently surprised and caught off guard.  As a fairly jaded TV watcher that often predicts lines or plotlines as I'm watching, I really appreciate the fun of being surprised.  Plus I love girly love triangles lol.

Better in what sense?  The love triangle(s) persist throughout the show, so some of the angsty relationship stuff is always a part of it.  But in terms of action/killing/witchcraft/twists/lore, yes, the show does ramp up considerably, I think more in the second half of season 1, and never really stops.  I think the original thread details it better.

The first couple of episodes I wasn't sure if I wasn't going to stay watching or not, it wasn't until about halfway through the first season that I finally started to 'click' with it.
Caroline had to be one of the most annoying characters I've seen on TV, kept hoping she'd get killed off but now at season 3, I've kind of grown attached to her as well.

Vampire Diaries most definitely gets better, but as already mentioned, it's still going to have the love triangles, twists, drama, with enough action to keep you watching.

so, season 4 news should start leaking out soon.  it's going to be a longer wait this time, season 4 is not set to premier until October 11th.  that's about a month later than normal- the previous premiere dates were 9-10, 9-9 and 9-15.

Watched e series over he last 6 weeks and looking forward to the new season. I just hope that they deal with the Originals quickly so that they can introduce new baddies. I'm burnt out on Klaus and co. And want something new, preferably someone that kills the hell out of Bonnie. Hate her so much.

I felt that way about Caroline. Annoying blonde when the hell is she going to die? First season I was almost ready to stop watching because of how annoying she was. Then slowly she sort of grew on me, and I almost like her character now.

At least we have True Blood for our vampire fix until October.

Pretty brutal mid-season finale, I hope it helps to escalate the "big bad" for the second half of the season which will presumably involve all those people who sacrificed in the beginning of the season and the stupid teacher dude.  Either way, as long as buff Jeremy is around, I'm in!

As much as I love the show I think a spinoff is a mistake, I think the show is losing steam already so this will just further dilute it.

Started out disliking Vampire Diaries (beginning of season 1) and now on to season 4, all the way to the current episode, I think I can honestly say VD is my favorite show. Even more than Jupiter's Cock, which comes in a close second.

The show could use a new villain or two though to keep things interesting. Klaus being the only "bad guy" for so long has become too predictable. And I'd hardly call Shane a villain.

I think it was more assumed because of the awesome ratings, but it's always nice to have that warmy comfy feel of the actual renewal to snuggle with at night.

the back door pilot episode from this week worked well, and they're picking up 'The Originals' for next season.

Absolutely fantastic news!

Short of having Elena wake up from an extremely tedious nightmare to realize the original vampires were a figment of her subconscious and will never be discussed again, segregating their terrible storyline into a different series is the best possible outcome.  Long live The Originals, in a time slot far, far away!

I think the problem with this is that they split the show-running talent, which can be tough on both shows.  Buffy/Angel struggled for a while before finding their strides.  

More importantly, Klaus has probably been the most enjoyable character on the show this season, and now they are taking him away.  Plus messing with the Klaus/Caroline relationship which is/was by far the most interesting one this season.  Elena and the brothers have been bugging the crap out of me all season.  Heck I'd rather they take Caroline over to The Originals and just cancel TWD lol.  Oh but resurrect my hunky Jeremy and bring him over too!

yea, the show isn't going to be the same without Klaus.  maybe they can bring Alaric back; Matthew Davis is in need of a new job

still, they went almost 2 seasons without Klaus actually being in the show, so I think they'll manage.

I was hoping for more cameos, like Vicki, Jenna, Ann, Esther and Finn), but then the ending hit and I see there is definitely room for more.

Bonnie is dead!  wonder if she'll stay that way.  Would be a 'happy' ending for both her and Jeremy to cross over at the same time, but that would mean that two main characters got offed in one season and at least one other (Klaus) going over to The Originals.

I wonder who is going to get the cure.  Safe bet would be Elena, but this series doesn't like safe bets.

Technically they could keep Jeremy and Alaric 'alive' but confined to Mystic Falls back if they found a way to deny anything else from crossing over.

This season has been pretty disappointing, particularly after losing Alaric and (shirtless) Jeremy.   More importantly Elena became unbearable in every form (emotions, no emotions, sired, not sired, as Katherine).  Ugh.  Along with that the wishy washy brothers have become equally irritating.  Bonnie's powers are all over the place, which makes the threat levels inconsistent and hard to care about.  Matt has probably been the best character this year, and Caroline has been pretty good, particularly playing off Klaus.

They said the cure would be a surprise.  Given that I'll guess it's Damon, that would be pretty cool.

The finale was pretty cool, made up for a lot of the annoyances of the rest of the season.  Lot of nice little moments, plenty of surprises, and the "tease" with the humanity potion was really well done.  I certainly didn't see it coming and they did a great job playing multiple sides.

Next year should be interesting to see how they split the shows and who is coming back (or not), aside from the "big 3".  Will Matt end up on the Originals?  Is Jeremy coming back?  Bonnie?  Werewolf boy?  Caroline?
