with Pushing Daisies Bryan Fuller and possibly Guillermo del Toro in a behind the scenes role? could the Munsters survive the modern era?

Why? We're now below the bottom of the barrel and digging into the soft wormy earth for ideas.

I have the forum set up to read newest first, and so I was agreeing with you guys until I got to the original post. I have to say, if those two guys are the creative force behind it, I'll give it a shot. I can't imagine why anyone would want to resurrect this, but I can only figure they have something cool up their sleeves.

did no one like The Munsters then?,i loved them,i think they were more popular here than The Addams Family,or at least in my household it was,The Munsters and The Beverly Hillbillies FTW I will try it out anyway, could be fun So as Fred Gwynne is dead,i suggest they have Al from Married with Children as Herman Munster(which MWC pretty much was The Munsters but without the monster stuff)

I did when I was a child and the show was current. I haven't seen it since then so I really don't know how it would hold up. I don't like sitcoms in general. I'm intrigued by the idea of reviving this one, though.

I preferred the Addams Family to The Munsters, mostly because the humor was a bit darker and had a bit of an edge, while the Munsters were basically good monsters who just wanted to fit in. That being said the Munsters were always good for a laugh. If they do remake this it will most likey be a train wreck but Ill watch just to see if the can actually make it work.

I did. I always had a thing for Mrs Munster, and still drool over her whenever I watch The Ten Commandments. I would have picked her over her silly sisters, too

i just thought of something,i think it may be a bit shit actually because no doubt it will be in colour, and when The Munsters went to Colour(The Munsters Today) it looked ...well shit,it didn't look right, everything from the Munsters themselves to the house, the house(inside and out) didn't look as old and creepy(or maybe the word i am looking for is authentic) as it did when it was in B+W

Knowing Bryan Fuller that's probably not too far off. I like the shows he has done (Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies), but their surreal qualities don't ever seem to find a mainstream audience. If he wasn't attached to this one I would have absolutely no interest. As it is, I will at least give it a try.

the Munsters is now going to be called Mockingbird Lane. not sure why they decided to rename it, Munsters would have had more name recognition- Mockingbird Lane sounds like it could be a Desperate Housewives spinoff.

There's a certain, I don't know if cheese is the right word, but cheese factor associated with the Munsters, though. For anyone who stills has nostalgia for the show, "Mockingbird Lane" certainly triggers it, while avoiding the goofy factor. I have a fondness for the Musters. I'll probably watch it with my kid at some point (is it on Netflix?), but I don't know that I'll be able to keep my eyes from rolling back into my head while doing it.

Yeah I was looking at this EW network pilots list: http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/02/02/tv-pilots-list/Wow, Munsters as drama! What an idea! Hey, there's also a show set in a ... hospital! Wow! And look, there's another show about... firefighters! Wow! And gee whiz, numerous "single-camera comedies" that aren't really attempts to duplicate The Office, including one by the producer of the U.S. version (Greg Daniels) who seems to want to be a Single-Camera Franchiser now. Wow! Man, it's no wonder cable shows get nearly all the awards these days.

As noted earlier, the fact that Fuller is behind this gives me hope that it will be interesting and fun. Pushing Daisies was a fantastic series that died WAY before it should have. Heck, I even liked Wonderfalls.

We're ultimately to blame though. We clamor for quality shows like Arrested Development, Community, Firefly and the aforementioned Pushing Daisies (all critical darlings), then give freaking Fear Factor, Trump's Ego Trip of the Week and 37 versions of lame ass karaoke all the numbers. Of course the networks put out crap...the majority of television viewers in the US are idiots. <rant mode off>

I was in no way part of the demise of Pushing Daisies. Loved that show. One of the most original programs ever to hit television with a unique, fun, interesting tone that they managed to maintain through the run of the series.
Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me I was a little so-so on, truth be told, but I appreciate the creativity involved. But Fuller was also involved in the first season of Heroes (you know, the one good one). He left to make Pushing Daisies. So, yeah, I'm looking forward to Mockingbird Lane.
