so, this new series started on Showtime over the weekend called The Borgias.  Anyone catch it?  I've been thinking of subbing to Showtime to see it but was wondering it it felt worth the time.

Those are the main protagonists from Assasins Creed, in case anyone missed that.

You mean antagonists? slywink

Although, playing a game where you play a Borgia trying to deal with your f'ed up family would be kinda awesome.

I dunno, anything involving poo I might want to be very sure I'm saying the right word, especially so with food items. slywink

Anyway, caught the first 20 minutes of this, it's actually pretty interesting. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it. Not to mention the actress playing Lucrezia is a stunner. Tongue

Of course, having recently played AC Brotherhood definitely made me preinclined to watching such a show.

Anyways -thanks for the heads up on the show..I'm actually pretty interested in this as well. Might have to investigate if there's any online services I can use over here to see it.

I didn't mention it before, but in the little bit that I saw, the acting was all quite good and each character was quickly established to have some level of nuance, all good signs for the start of a show.

Going to finish up the episode later when I can really sit down and watch.

For a period full of political intrigue, sexual scandals and assassins, the pilot was remarkably ssssllllooooowwwww.   I don't know if it was the pacing or what, but I was bored about 20 minutes into it.   I'm going to stick with it because I'm a sucker for this type of show, but they really need to kick it up.

Well...it got much better.  Season 3 and I'm still hooked.  One of the best things about the show is its version of assassins.  Especially cesare's personal assassin.  He slumps around all hunched over but his every word and action is just full of threat.  The actor nails it.

Has anyone seen the OTHER Borgia's show that is currently on Netflix? I'm considering it, since some purists say that its very good, but also loved season one of this Borgia show with all the protagonist antagonizing people.

Well...crap.  I was hoping for a fourth season at least.  Ah well, I'm guessing Jordan is more interested in returning to film work than tv work.

I'll probably check out the Canadian version that's available on Netflix after it ends.  You can never have enough Borgia backstabbing.

I think it is the same one. It's credited as being a Hungarian, Ireland and Canadian production produced by Showtime. I think Razgon might mean the one that is listed as being a France and Germany production.

The Borgias with Jeremy Irons.

You owe it to yourself to catch Sean Harris' Micheletto on the Showtime version.  He's a character you pity, hate and fear at the same time.

Spoiler for Hiden:

There's already a book about the Borgias.  It's called HISTORY.

Indeed - I watched the first episode of OTHER Borgias, the France Germany production, and it sucked big time. First off, the variety of nationalities isn't a help - Mr. Borgia himself is speaking insanly American, while his fellow bishops are speaking english with italian accents, or even danish. Add to that, that the acting is horrible, and we have a recipe for disaster.
