The new season has started and continues with all the crazy plot developments. Each season Kurt Sutter seems to find new ways to torture Otto. The bit with the kid showing up throughout the show definitely got me curious and I certainly didn't predict how they would finally explain his importance.

just watched the first two episodes, haven't watched this week yet.  with one season left after this you can see the pieces already falling into place.

the kid surprised me too, was expecting something totally different with that part.

A recurring pattern is that I can skip the entire episode and just watch the final 5 minute song montage. All the motives and actions are revealed that had been alluded to throughout the episode.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Otto DID murder a defenseless, innocent woman last season.  He's not someone I cheer for.  Of course, the number of people on the show that aren't deserving of a death sentence can be counted on one hand.

I noticed the episodes seem to be running extra long this season as well.  did some researching and found this:

Quote
Sutter also revealed that nearly every episode of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6 had come in between 15 and 30 minutes above the usual running time, something negotiated with FX in order for Sutter to fully flesh out character relationships in time for the predicted season 7 end to the series. “I have an idea of what the final shot is,” Sutter offered of the seventh season. “And I hold onto it loosely. If that’s what it ends up being, that’s what it ends up being.”

true, but:

Spoiler for Hiden:
Toric really deserved that.  He was way over the line at that point.

I also saw this interview with Kurt Sutter about last night's episode.

I find that SoA is much easier to binge watch.  I caught up on Season 6 during my last two cross-country flights, and think it's really very good.  My only issue is with making Tara the badguy, which I'm really not too fond of.  We'll see how things all play out...I have the feeling she's got something else up her sleeve.

Well, I'm glad to see that they've decided that one full song length montage scene at the end of each episode to pad the running time wasn't enough and that they now require one for the opening too.

It was like a Game of Thrones episode. Except that it was no surprise when some of the characters were finally killed off.

Spoiler for Hiden:
I knew he was going to die eventually, but he cheated death so many times I kept expecting a last second out for him.  I expected Gemma would step in, or Jax would have a last second change of heart, or Nero would say something, or Juice would...

Anyone else watching the final season of Sons of Anarchy?  Yes, it's all very silly, but I thought the first three episodes have been excellent, and I can't wait to see how it all wraps up.  With the path Jax is currently on, things are going to go very bad for all involved, methinks.  I'm really interested to see who actually comes out the other side alive.

The show has been a hot mess since the end of season 1.  I would've preferred it if Sutter had stuck with his original vision of Hamlet in a biker gang setting.  But he's veered off course so far over the years that it stopped being a show I watch for character development and dialog, to a show I watch to see how raunchy they can get.  It's not good television by any means, but it certainly is something I tune into each week...although often with an embarrassed feeling.

I also came to the conclusion last night that this show is just one giant MMO.  Each week Jax goes to a new guild and they give him a quest to raise his reputation points with them.

I can't stand the fact that the episodes are all an hour and a half at a minimum. It's too much to invest. I've taken to just fast forwarding through all the stupid montage scenes at the beginning and the end. At this point I just want to get to the end to see what happens, but the sad part is I don't really care what happens one way or another.

A good summary of why I stopped watching. It became too much like a daytime soap opera with motorcycles.

I'm so glad this is the final season, it's like the writers don't even give a damn anymore. Jaks and crew can do whatever they want in a "quiet" town and not get caught. Add to that a grenade going off in a small shop full of people and no one dies or even gets injured. Give me a break, heck they all just shrugged the blast off like it was a water balloon. Just lame.
