It's baaaacccckkkk.

Last season was, in my opinion, a giant jumped shark of a season.  The whole IRA subplot just felt completely out of place for a show that was supposed to be about Jax's struggle with his birthright and the enemies within.  Thankfully, this season appears to be getting off on the right foot as we're back to basics again.

Spoiler for Hiden:
The leather clad assistant united state's attorney is played by the insane preacher from Deadwood.  Still too soon to decide what I make of his character, but I do like the actor.

Loved season one. Season two started fine but ended so over the top and ridciulous that it sapped my interest in watching season three.

finally got around to watching the first episode and parts of the second.  not bad, I wonder if they are planning on season 5 to be the last since if they keep the Jax/Clay feud simmering any longer it's going to be overcooked.

on a side note, I noticed Aceveda from The Shield playing one of Machete's henchmen in the second episode.  I wonder if him and Lem will have a reunion, but too bad Dutch bought it already.

He's also popping up on Supernatural these days.

Btw, Ron Perlman should get a emmy nod for his role this season.

I'm really happy to see the show back on course after last season's ridiculous plots.

Spoiler for Hiden:
I wanna see Opie go on the warpath.  That guy's friggin' huge.  Every time he walks into a room with those other guys, it's like a wookie joined them.

If they continue with the original intent of "Hamlet in a biker gang" I would imagine that has to end with the death of...someone in charge.  Next season could be about the aftermath or it could just become a standard (not an insult) adventure/crime show about anti-heroes.

Now we're cooking with gas.  I like the ending of the 90 minute special.

Spoiler for Hiden:
5' 5" blonde emo boy on the warpath?  meh.  6' 9" chewbacca lookin' mofo on the warpath?  hell yeah.  I'm looking forward to frankenstein jr. rippin' clay to pieces...but I have a feeling it may just be their way of writing opie out of the show.   icon_cry

I had a feeling when Gemma said:

Spoiler for Hiden:
he must be killed by the son that it wasn't Jax she was talking about.  now the only question is will he succeed?  I can see the show without Clay, but not without Opie.

A World Where Outlaw Bikers Are Bad, But Government Agents Are Even Worse

Quote
Rogue cops are nothing new on TV, of course, but rarely do we see such a relentlessly negative depiction of federal agents—particularly in contrast to the show’s often sympathetic portrayal of the murderous bikers, who are frequently shown to be men of courage operating within their own unique honor system. Unlike the typical prime-time crime drama, which features a noble hero breaking the law in pursuit of the greater good—such as counter-terrorism maestro Jack Bauer on the Fox hit 24—Sons of Anarchy makes a very different point about law and order: The government’s ends don’t always justify its means.

poor Lem.

That poor son of a bitch gets blown up eventually in almost every show he's on.  You think by now he'd just ask his casting agent to put him in dramas that don't include explosives.

Quote from: Moliere on November 22, 2011, 04:50:43 PM

At first I thought "come on, it's just a tv show."  After reading the article and being reminded that they've had at least 3 federal agents (almost one per season) that were just downright bad, I had to stop and think for a second.  Maybe the writer of the show (who plays Otto, by the way) really does have issues with the feds/cops/anyone in authority.

I have to say, they've redeemed themselves after last season's ridiculous story.  Much improved.  Can't wait for part deux of the season finale.

my predictions:

Spoiler for Hiden:
Jax is stopped from killing Clay at the last second (after he tells Clay he knows about him killing his father) and civil war ensues in the club for season 5.  I also predict Romeo just sold them out.

Spoiler for Hiden:
I will say that Leroy is (rightfully) going to be on the warpath for some time to come.  I know the "heroes" of the show are supposed to be the Sons, but now I'm actually rooting for the Niners to slaughter a few of them.

I was confused by the scene with Romeo in which he denies Otto sold them out.  Is he playing out some plan I'm not aware of/too stupid to grasp?

Also, Lenny cracks me up every time he shows up.

Agreed...   love that scene with Hale....

Few observation:

Spoiler for Hiden:
-What the hell was Jax thinking...
-Tara vs. Gemma
-Opie going nomad???
-Bobby?
-Hell is coming to Charming
