I just watched the show online and thought it was pretty good. There were definitely a few times when I was laughing to myself.
I am sort of disappointed to see that he is still going with the "monologue, 2 guests and a musical guest" format, though. I had thought this would be a great chance to really just throw that format away and try something completely fresh.

Like maybe a monologue, 1 guest, a musical guest, and the another guest?

I liked his joke about daylight savings time. I recorded the rest. Did Jack White suck as badly as he did on Conan's last Tonight Show?

I thought the show was decent... it seemed like Conan... I assume it will get better. Conan played with White, so it was kind of shitty, but fun.

Or Comedy Network, where it's on earlier, unless of course you don't get Comedy Network. I liked his opening montage. That kicked all kinds of ass, but I was rather underwhelmed by his choice of guests for his premiere. Tonight seems more of a better lineup with Tom Hanks and Soundgarden.

I thought the Seth Rogan interview was unwatchable. Monologue and what he had been doing in the past season was amusing.

Conan's debut brought in the best ratings TBS has ever had: 4.2 million viewers! He beat Letterman and Leno (whose numbers are still below what Conan was pulling in on NBC). Of course, he won't hold onto those numbers, but hopefully he'll do pretty well. Having worked for TBS, I can say those guys don't really know what the hell they're doing. I have to agree with Moliere on Seth Rogen. Why the hell was he the first (real) guest? It felt rushed, too. Lea Michele's interview was better but also hurried. It sometimes felt like Conan's heart wasn't in it. Hopefully, it's just the insanity of getting a new show off the ground, and he'll settle in over time. I fear that he's too disheartened. Andy was doing great, though. I didn't get a chance to see last night. How did that go?

I'll disagree with Seth Rogen not being a good first guest. He established that they are no longer on network TV and can get away with much more just because they are on basic cable.
I didn't watch last nights episode, but it's on the DVR. I'll probably watch it while I'm getting ready for work.

Have you seen Craig Ferguson's show? He gets away with more on that show pretty much every night.

Have you seen Craig Ferguson's show? He gets away with more on that show pretty much every night. He's on after Letterman, right? There's a big difference between 1:00AM and 11:00-11:30PM. At least on network TV. With basic cable anything goes after 10:00. Plus each channel will have it's own personal guidelines. Jon Stewart will probably be able to get away with a lot more than Conan, despite being on at the same time.

I want to believe that once Kimmel goes on at 11:30 it will hurt both Jay and Letterman. The move to Fallon would be NBC admitting that they need a younger guy at the helm. Honestly Fallen and Kimmel are miles better at the late night thing these days. The old guard is running out of steam.
