I'm wondering if anyone else here caught the 1st epdisode of this 3 part miniseries. It features Kevin Costner as William Anderson "Devil Anse" Hatfield and Bill Paxton as Randolph "Ole Ran'l" McCoy. Obviously based on what those actors have done in the past those are close to "made in Heaven" roles for them, but I was surprised at just how good they are. Particularly Costner who's done little or nothing that's decent in years. Its co-produced between the History channel and Kevin Costner and have to say the production is damn good. Especially the cinematography which seems to have really captured the setting well - hard to describe, but it gives it a darker tint similar to vintage photographs from the era. Despite having a very large cast I can't say there was a single weak  peformance in the 1st episode. I'm really looking forward to the next epiosde.

I recorded all three episodes and watched them over two days.  Really good show, worth watching.

Recorded, haven't yet watched. We usually only hit the DVR when there's a gap in our netflix disks...which might happen tomorrow night.

Watched the first part. We have to wait for the two others which are playing each following Monday here in Canada.

I really thought Bill Paxton did a great job in this show. Especially in episode 3.

I really enjoyed the series.  The actors did a great job and the History Channel wasn't afraid to spend money when needed in producing it.  thumbsup

They're doing a 2-disc Blu Ray release on July 31.
