NBC is apparently looking to replicate Dexter, this time with Hannibal Lecter.  Bryan Fuller is producing.  they liked the script enough that they're skipping the pilot:

The project is described as a contemporary thriller series featuring the classic characters from Thomas Harris’ novel Red Dragon – FBI agent Will Graham and his mentor Dr. Hannibal Lecter – who are re-introduced at the beginning of their budding relationship. The project was bought by NBC preemptively in November with a script against a 13-episode commitment, meaning that the project wouldn’t go through a pilot stage but straight to series if NBC brass liked the script.

I'm actually getting excited about this one.  I hope it can live up to the hype.

Hannibal will also be unusual because it’s planned as a 13-episode-per-season show. So though the drama won’t rush Hannibal’s story, it also won’t feel like its padded with throwaway episodes either.

“Doing a cable model on network television gives us the opportunity not to dally in our storytelling because we have a lot of real estate to cover,” Fuller says. “I pitched a seven-season arc including stories from various [Thomas Harris] books.”

For the first time, viewers will spend quality time with Lecter while he’s at large and before the world knows his secrets, working side by side with a similarly brilliant man who is destined to catch him.

Still not sure how I feel about this series.  I read the novels and I imagine they will need to change somethings to make it fit for TV like the changes to Walking Dead.   I'll tune in, but I don't have high hopes

we had epsiode 4 last night(the episode that you guys did not get because of Boston)

It was a very violent episode with kidnapped Children being used to go back to their families to kill them so they can be with their new families

Its a shame that you guys did not get the episode,because although the Children killer storyline can be missed,the continuation of Hannibals advantage and manipulation over everyone is something quite interesting

I am liking this series,but its quite eerie/strange...i use my Turtle Beach Headset and the music/soundtrack is quite bonkers at time

Will seems the more he works doing this,the more he is losing it,and Hannibal helping the FBI while he is the one they are looking for is quite good

There have been a lot of rumours,apparently the producers have plans for up to 7 seasons or David Bowie will be in season 2...but the decision to renew Hannibal has still not been decided(apparently it could be picked up by other networks if it doesn't get renewed by NBC)

The show is truly unsettling but also displays a very dark sense of humor that can make me laugh at the most ridiculous times (the elaborate dinner parties are usually the catalyst).

I love the parallel between Hannibal and Will they're trying to draw.  I'm also fascinated by Mad's ability to have Hannibal mimic empathy and human compassion...while still being able to convey the feeling that at any moment he could just kill any of these people without a second thought.

I am loving this series. As a Hannibal fan before Silence came out it's great to have a series like this. Something different that doesnt follow the normal by rote police murder investigation shows.

I have been series linking it on Sky(UK) but admit to downloading the episodes already shown in the US to get my fix sooner. Even my wife is enjoying it a lot.

We have started watching The Following (all 15 episodes on sky+ waiting) just to fill in the time bewteen Hannibal episodes and while it scracthes an itch Hannibal is just so much better.

Not really, it's more like having a friend. He feels everyone is significantly below him and they dont deserve his friendship. Will he thinks does.

Random:

One recent episode talked about something happening at a beach in a small town in West Virginia.

One slight small problem. Said town (and the entire state for that matter) doesn't HAVE such a thing as it's a LANDLOCKED STATE. Also, my boss at work grew up at said town. He was laughing up a storm when he found out about this.

cool.  the Onion did have a funny comment at the end of one of their video segments that could have been aimed at the PC'ness that got an episode pulled.  it went something like this:

Another excellent episode.  Hannibal's suppression of certain information completely changed my view of the dynamic of his and Will's relationship.
