So, the latest episode? What did you guys think. DC Comics fans will be getting a lot of love in this one.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Suicide squad gets put in play, along with a Harley Quinn mini-cameo. Man, it just makes me want more Batman stuff out there again.

More Deathstroke in full costume.

Also nice to see side characters getting more prime time in an episode.

Much as I like the show they have so many story threads it seems like more get diminished and forgotten. Malcom Merlin pops back alive with the secret father link but then poof he's gone. The city politician that's running for mayor who moonlights looking like scarecrow(don't know if that's who he's actually supposed to be) while working with Slade but he's disappeared too. Also they kinda wasted Summer Glau as a guest by having her just bat a few eyelashes and trade some barbs with Oliver. The writers could do a better job planning the story out and not leave so many dangling plotlines.

I agree that they have a ton of side stories going on, but my guess is that both Merlin and Summer Glau are build up for season 3. My best guess is that Glau is somehow tied in with the League of Assassins, which would also tie in with Merlin and will create the ongoing story for season 3. Remember we still haven't seen how Sarah becomes the Canary. We know she was trained by the league though.

As for Brother Blood, I was also wondering if Slade killed him off screen or not because he hasn't been on the show for a while. Also this is what Wikipedia has to say about the comic book version of Brother Blood
Quote
The first Brother Blood encountered by the Titans was the eighth to bear the title. Seven hundred years earlier, a priest in the fictional nation of Zandia named Brother Sebastian killed another priest to gain possession of what he believed to be Christ's prayer shawl. The shawl gave him invulnerability and reduced his aging, but the priest he killed cursed him to be slain by his son before his hundredth birthday. Upon doing so, his son became the second Brother Blood. He, in turn was killed by his son, and this continued for seven centuries

Awesome end to Season 2... a big  thumbsup to that and the show in general. Nice to see The Flash trailer as well.

And if for some reason you're here and haven't seen it yet, I'll spoiler this bit:

Spoiler for Hiden:
Wasn't expecting Summer's run as Isabel "The Queen" to end this season for some reason, nor quite like that. Thought the mask they put her in was kind of... odd.. but I guess they wanted to stay with the DeathStroke theme.

And I had to smile when Ollie professed his love for Felicity when it dawned on me what was going on, the play he was making. Poor Ms. Smoke.

Definitely agree with all of this!

Spoiler for Hiden:
I must admit I totally got fooled by the scene.  I was like, whaaaaaa???  With Sarah gone and maybe switching teams again, I suppose they could still do some stuff with Ollie and Felicity next season; they definitely have a unique chemistry.

Me too - I was iffy on Felicity in the first season, but she really grew on me over time.  I thought she was great with The Flash too.  I kind of hoped she'd go to the other show because she really brings a fun energy to it, but that would leave a huge hole in Arrow.

I'm rewatching season 1 on DVD as I missed a good 3rd of the episodes. Now about 2/3rds of the way through I have to say the writing has slipped a bit for season 3. Not enough to make me stop watching, but the scripts for new episodes definitely don't seem to be as good. I'm trying to separate whether it's just that I preferred the revenge themes or that I'm watching it without commercials, which I really dislike, but that aside the new writing does seem weaker.

I'm with you 2 on Felicity and last episode - really like her character and thought that was the best season 3 episode yet.

I think what made season 1 really click for me was the writing on the origin/island storyline.  In fact, aside from shirtless Amell porn, that was really what kept me watching the show.  I actually felt the flashback content was considerably stronger than the present day stuff.  Season 2 was a great blend of both present day action and flashbacks, and they created a very compelling main villain which drove the whole season.

This season is definitely the weakest in terms of flashback content, and the main plotline probably needs to start revving up too in terms of interesting villains.  All in all agreed the writing is lacking something.  Killing off Sarah seemed a bit desperate and unnecessary to me, but I guess it opened the door to give the other female characters more action.

WTFTWTFWTWTF  eek eek eek eek eek

Spoiler for Hiden:
I don't suppose Stephen Amell is really gone, but I guess he's been toying with fans on twitter with messages like "It's been a good run."  I guess the working theory is he will be brought back to life in some Razagul resurrection pool.  All I know is if I don't get my regular dose of shirtless Amell I might not survive.

Was waiting for people to catch up so I could talk about it:

Spoiler for Hiden:
He'll be back, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has an extended disappearance, either for an episode or two, or they'll advance time again within the story.

They'll definitely have to use Lazarus pit level of plot devices to bring him back. What they showed was a bit much for even a main character to survive. And I do like how they made it really clear that he never really had a chance.

I wonder if they'll take this opportunity to branch off into this green arrow of destiny plotline I've seen elsewhere, where the only reason he is revived is because someone needs him as part of the search for that special arrow. That, or he has some trick up his sleeve with his ex-Argus partner.

I also wonder if Merlin really did put Thea up to this, or if someone was also playing Malcolm by using Thea, sending him that video to force him out of hiding. It seems to go against a lot of what they setup for Malcolm. You know he wants to make her a killer, but drugging someone to make them kill for him doesn't seem his style.

Just a general comment, I'm still surprised, but I am really enjoying this show.  Actually both this show and The Flash keep surprising me with how engaging they are.  I was concerned about the Flash's tone being inconsistent with Arrow given that they are in the same "universe" but somehow they are both managing to maintain very separate identities while overlapping nicely.  (Although I can't help but think Felicity would have called Barry over to help take out the Juggernaut and his minions, but oh well.)  Kudos all around.

Well...

Spoiler for Hiden:
I'm pretty sure that Thea's death won't stick. She'll either be super critical, or actually be dead, and the only way to bring her back is for Oliver to become Ras Al Ghul, giving him access to the Lazarus Pit to revive her.

Overall however, I think I'm kind of done with this show, even for comic book characters the motivations and reasonings for doing things are insane and stupid at the same time.

Were they implying that she might get super powers or was that too much of a leap?  They said that other guy with powers wasn't hit by the reactor explosion, so I'm wondering if it's fore-shadowing people getting powers another way, like for instance from a magical resurrection pool?  Too much of a stretch?

Yeah, I don't watch the next episode previews, so I don't know what's coming up.

The DC TV universe is being established as pretty far reaching, so magic being introduced is not much of a stretch from superpowers.

Either way, I still think the motivations and reasoning of this season have gone of the deep end. Action is happening because of it, but it's based on such stupid premises that at times I preferred Agents of SHIELD's first half of season 1 over this. The whole contrived situation with Malcolm, for example, is the worst of it all.

The whole League of Assassins plotline seems off to me.  Earlier they made it sound like once he took over he could do whatever he wanted with it.  So why not just take it over and have them all stop killing people, or all kill each other or whatever lol.  Now they seem to have flipped and want it to be much more negative.

Either way I don't think it was the right direction to go with the show.  Killing off Sarah was stupid to begin with, but I guess it gave Lauren more to do.

I'm still invested in the characters (and shirtless Amell!!!) so I will keep watching til the bitter end, but I'm hoping they tie this up and do something different/better next season.  In contrast The Flash has been a much better show all around.  Here's hoping he goes back in time and saves his mom and changes the entire timeline so this whole stupid League plot gets erased lol.

I think Ras implied that so Oliver would bite, but Oliver has been skeptical of that and has said multiple times "they are called the league of assassins for a reason"

Good episode but it seems like they've got some continuity things to work out.  Next week's Flash preview has Oliver showing up to fight Reverse Flash, but he's still in the middle of a cliffhanger at the end of last night's Arrow episode.
