I hope.  I really hope.  But then I remember how excited I was when I saw the first trailer for the Phantom Menace.  A trailer can be awfully good and still have the movie suck.

It might be too hard to separate what I know now with what I thought back then, but it's pretty clear in the first Phantom Menace trailer that the movie was not going to be very good. Just count how many times Jar-Jar was featured!

3 times.  Which is not a lot.

I would say what was worse was the CGI Yoda.  It just looked terrible.

I think that Yoda in Ep 1 was a puppet still.

Yoda was not CGI in that movie. It wasn't until Episode 2 that they turned him into CGI, and they later went back and redid his Phantom Menace scenes in CGI too. What you saw in that trailer was a puppet, like in the original trilogy.

It was indeed a terrible puppet.  Which is weird because the original one from 25 years earlier looked great.

This movie, then, is...a new hope.

Hmmm...I must have missed it when I was reviewing posts made after the official release of the trailer.  My mistake.  Sorry for the repeat post.

http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/12/11/star-wars-the-force-awakens-character-names/

Here’s a rundown of the reveal, listed in order of their collectible card number. (Asked if there was significance to the numbering, Abrams replied: “YES.”) Time to get on that, Bothan spies.

• #11 — BB-8 on the move

• #53 — Poe Dameron in his X-Wing

• #67 — Kylo Ren ignites his Lightsaber

• #74 — Rey on her Speeder

• #76 — Finn on the run

• #81 — Stormtroopers prepare for battle

• #88 — X-Wings in formation

• #96 — The Millennium Falcon

Maybe it's just linearity.  In other words the cards are numbered in order of when they happen in the movie.

There are real cards like this from the first trilogy, right? What were on the cards with these numbers? If there's any significance to them, I would think it lies there.

Yeah, I've been trying to remember if they were linear then when originally published.  I had a bunch of them.

I do remember that there was art on the back and when you laid them out in order and turned them over it made a giant picture.  That doesn't seem to apply here, though.
