I can't find it within myself to be generous enough to give the first three episodes anything higher than a 2 out of 5.

I really liked the first one. I don't know why, but so far the episodes focusing on Michael have been my favorite.

The Tobias and the Gob episodes have been the funniest to me.  It just started clicking with me post episode 3.  I'm surprised that it's getting as much negative press as it has.  I have to wonder if those critics are sticking with it longer than one or two episodes.

for me it was much later, episodes 7 or 8 that it really started clicking

did you all watch the scene after the end credits after the last episode?(if you have got that far yet)

I'd give the first episode at least 3.5, would have been a 4 but it seemed a bit off kilter.

Ep 6: Double Crossers - 1/4

George Sr. cannot carry the focus of an entire episode.

Ep 7: Colony Collapse - 2/4

GOB episode was an uptick, but it was SO convoluted.

Hoping for a midseason turnaround, otherwise I'll have to call this return a disappointment.

I've got two episodes to go.  I still don't think I've laughed out loud more than once or twice though.  While it gets better after episode 3, it still isn't what I would call a rousing success.  Still, I'll take half baked Arrested Development over most other shows any day of the week.  And with the recent announcement that Dan Harmon is returning to Community, I can rest assured that another great show is returning to form.

I was doing a course today so sat in a classroom type room ,and the tutor was talking and i started to get the giggles because i remembered Tobias at the Rehab Clinic trying to be cool and sitting on the big chair backwards and ripping his trousers, but trying to carry on as though nothing had happened...had to cover my mouth so she could not see me smiling like a goon icon_lol

Maybe they'll take all the feedback and get back to form in season 5.

I wonder if there will be a season 5.  I thought I read that netflix was having reservations about continuing on after what they felt was a lackluster response.

This is what I was referring to.  However, they do say the claim is dubious.

I just watched the Tobias rehab/FF Musical ep.  Probably my fave so far.  It felt pretty close to a true Arrested episode.

Also, watching Tommy Tune play the heavy in a confrontation with Michael was pure gold.

EDIT:  And I also just watched Maebe.  Really liked that one a lot.

Spoiler for Hiden:
I knew when watching the guru in the Lindsay ep that that was someone under there, but I had absolutely no idea it was Maebe.   thumbsup

Just finished episode 11.

I am enjoying watching the show, but I am not laughing much.  I'm interested to see where this all goes, but the story arcs are so convoluted.  The way they are wrapping time and making small events play together is really neat, but the fact that Ron Howard has to narrate SO MUCH should have been a clue that they were trying to do too much too quickly.

Right now I'm giving the season a C+.

I agree that the biggest issue this series has is what was meant to be the hook: the interweaving stories.

Unfortunately, the way it's been done, they're in a hazy area between assuming that you've seen what has come before and recapping.  So you get too much recap and too much glossed over.

They did use Ron Howard over-narration to great effect at one point, though.

Spoiler for Hiden:
The moments where George Michael is deliberating while Howard narrates and the on-screen actors stare awkwardly are well done.

There are a couple of very weak episodes, mostly toward the beginning, and there are no knocked-out-of-the-park episodes, which hurts it overall.  There are some pretty good eps, though, and some good moments throughout, but, again, nothing that stands out as classic.

Spoiler for Hiden:
I think my favorite joke of this whole season is Club And Jeremy Piven.

The ending moment is a bit of a shocker, though not out of nowhere, but it also indicates there's more to be told.  As does the mystery that's been set up.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Watching GM punch M straight in the face was a nice bit of CG and quite jarring.  And who knows what happened to Lucille 2.

Are they still making the movie?  I'd love to see them go back to some straightforward storytelling.

Overall, the season is worth seeing if you're a fan, but uneven at best, and a bit of a disappointment.

Just saw the Maeby and George Michael episodes and they are the absolute highlights of the season.

4/4 for both.  Really enjoyed them.

Just finished this tonight. Overall I thought it was pretty disappointing, although there was some laughs in there. It all seemed rather disjointed, but I suppose it's meant to be watched multiple times. My favorite episodes were definitely the George Michael and the Buster episodes. I just find Buster hilarious no matter what he's doing/saying.

But Buster is one of those characters that is best used in small doses.  Those types of characters rarely work when brought to the forefront.  I was kind of dreading the Buster episode for that reason.  However, it was one of the better ones, so I'm glad I was wrong.

That said, we should never see Buster! the spin off.
