I enjoyed the first a lot more than I thought I would.  I donít care much for action movies or for giant monster movies but it was just too fun.  Looking forward to the sequel.

I hope they get a better plot this time around.  The monster vs robot fights were fun though.

Yup.  On a second and third viewing, it just became more and more apparent that the film was...well...a little too slow for a giant robot film.  At least slower than I've come to expect from my boy Guillermo.  I hope he finds his footing for the second one because when he scores, he usually scores big.

Sweet!  I was a fan of the first one despite the hokey plot, so I'm really excited to see what they can do with a sequel.

I really wish he would just do a Hellboy sequel.

I wish he'd make At the Mountains of Madness.

I think Guillermo is way overrated as an action or adventure movie director. Still a good director, but he's got all sorts of pacing issues that are apparent in Hellboy, which is why I wasn't surprised at all with Pacific Rim having the same issues.

And this is coming from someone who really likes slow movies.

I'm not sure what film you were watching, but Hellboy (and Hellboy 2) had fantastic pacing for an action film.  As did Blade II (the only decent film in the franchise, if you ask me).

Pacific Rim was slow for me, yes.  But that was only because Guillermo tried too hard to flesh out his 2 dimensional characters.   It wasn't because he couldn't plot out a fight scene.  Quite the contrary.
