The Hollywood Reporter has put out the news that LD Entertainment has gotten the wheels spinning on a remake of the 1990 psycho-horror flick JACOB'S LADDER. They've hired Jeff Buhler, responsible for the Bradley Cooper-Ryuhei Kitamura splatterfest, THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, to rewrite a preexisting draft by Jake Wade Wall, the writer of the HITCHER and WHEN A STRANGER CALLS remakes; good call! MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN was maybe the most Clive Barker-y Clive Barker movie that he didn't direct himself, and it definitely deals with the kind of "normal guy watching his sense of reality get flushed down the toilet" stuff that they'll need to call up for LADDER.

I can't really remember the film,i saw it when it first came to VHS,i just remember Tim Robbins and Macaulay Culkin played his son i think

Hmm, not sure I feel about this. The original is one of my favorites, and don't really want to see it messed with. Never heard of the writer, but the fact that he wrote a "splatterfest" does not make me feel good. This original is not even a little bit a horror movie either, so if that's the way it's being taken, another bad sign.

There's no sense in remaking it. The original is one of my favorite films.. and this team that is reported to be remaking it doesn't sound that it will do the surreal original any justice. 'The Midnight Meat Train' wasn't good.

First time I saw JL (was way too young), I hated it.

2nd time I saw it many years later, i was blown away by it.

Would like to see it again some time.

Also,  Hollywood should just die.

plus it's not like people are screaming for it.  it did just over $26 million at the box office and I don't think it has a cult following.  it's almost like they're taking films from a certain year, tossing them all in a hat and picking one at random to remake.  I guess we got lucky though, the batch from 1990 could have gotten us Fire Birds, Spaced Invaders or The First Power.

And yet, unlike Jacobs Ladder, those other movies could all likely benefit from a remake.

With lots of CG, quick action cuts, and an ending that makes people feel good!

Oh, fantastic.  They're remaking a remake of An Occurrence at Owl Creek yet again.  That's what...the 274th adaptation?  God knows audiences are surprised each and every time by that plot device...well, those that have memory loss due to severe head trauma.
