Yup,that film made in 2004 is another getting the remake treatment

Quote
Less than a decade on from its original release, there's a remake in the works - and it has at least a couple of links with the original, including the same producers (AJ Dix, Anthony Rhulen, Chris Bender and JC Spink, in case you were wondering) and the writer and director of the original film, Eric Bress, writing a new take on the script.

It's not yet clear what direction the remake will take, or even why it's being considered so soon. The original was a relatively low-key sci-fi drama thriller which dealt with some fairly heavy themes (and featured Eric Stolz as a highly unpleasant individual). Might the remake attempt to capture a lighter, more crowd-pleasing tone? Or is the remake an attempt to undo the memories of the two sequels, which were made on tiny budgets and went straight to DVD?

Why don't Hollywood remake something useful, like The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones?  icon_biggrin

Not that this specific one looks any good, but I actually think that that it's better to remake films that were mediocre, rather than ones that were already great. That way, we might actually get a good film out of the idea.

Heres the catch though, they are not going to remake this in 2014, they are going back in time to remake it in 2004!

But will it... cause a butterfly effect? slywink

The original was fine for what it was. No need to remake it, especially so soon.

It's billed more as a re-boot, but I'm with those who think reboots are coming out way too soon after the original these days.

I assume the reboot will star Topher Grace.  Roll Eyes

This was one of my guilty favorites, the only thing I liked Ashton kutcher in.  It's a fun story and the original want seen much so this could be a good way to let the younger generation be exposed to it.   Hope they will cast a good male lead.  And by good I think everyone knows what I mean.
