Did anyone else catch the special on the Apocalypse on The History Channel?

While I *heart* the History Channel, this was a load of tripe. Never was a reality check of "people have been predicting the end of the world for 2000 years, and here we are." One expert said our chances of a catastrophic meteor strike each day as 1 in 20,000. My parents are just lucky, I guess. One even lied about the Black Death being the source for the common nursery rhyme "Ring around the rosey." Do these people never check their facts?

And, coming up at 10PM central time, more innacuracies about "Nostradamus' prophecies." Gah.

The bubonic plague is definitely the black death, though it has been speculated that the "red death" spoken of in the kick-ass Edgar Allen Poe story, "The Masque of the Red Death" is also plague.

"Ring around the Rosy" is definitely about the bubonic plague:
Ring around the rosy
One form of plague first shows itself as a rash that looks like a red ring.
Pocket full of posey
They stuffed flowers and perfumes into pockets of the sick to hide the stench of death -- fun!
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down.
You got the bubonic plague?  You're probably gonna die.

Ah, nursery rhymes.  Fun for the whole family.

The problem with Ring Around the Rosey is that there is no recorded mention of this rhyme for over 500 years after the Black Death.
