Got a feeling your boys are going to take it to me and I'll be hearing it from my brother-in-law, who got us the tickets. I've been set up!

Boy, was I wrong...

Jersey ain't no Toronto.

Koz? Koz.... Koz? You still here? No "The best last place team in the NHL" posts?
Back on the farm again?

I was waiting for you to come in here and gloat. It took you three days? You must be getting old.

As for the game, despite the usual horrid officiating, it was a one-sided affair. I didn't even see the last two goals cause the game was done when Toivonan let in that junk backhander. We got you guys again on Thursday, we'll see how that goes.

But it won't be with Phil Kessel, who may have testicular cancer. Man, what a rough time to get hit with that. Hopefully it's not serious.

All the best to Kessel and his family.  Look at Rico Fata, he is a one ball wonder, so I am sure it will all be ok.

Koz - The refs!! That was it!! Hope Kessel is OK.

If you actually bothered to read my post....

Therein lies the problem, my dear Koz.  You would have a better chance of a dyslexic, drunken, polar bear actually reading your post than Devil.  At best he skims every 5th word and then replies.  It's standard operation procedure for him.  I've learned to keep my messages to him one sentence long.  Makes a monumental difference.   icon_wink

It's kind of odd how that actually makes a bit of sense.

Anyways, I have to say, that as much as I hate the Canadiens (and I do hate them very much so), they've got the best fans in hockey. It's like a playoff game there every night. I don't know if it's just for the Bruins, but that's a fantastic crowd. Makes me yearn for the old garden days.

First thing mentioned was the refs!

That Samsonov guy looked good last night.

Devils lose to Buffalo in a game that wasn't as close as the score.

At least they get the bounce-back win tomorrow night!

Oh hell yeah, 8-4 win over the Philadelphia Pussies.  Fedoruk needs booted from the freaking league, what a bum.  Good job pissing off Crosby, like he needed more motivation, 6 points, now the league leader.

Big win, Koz.

Refs OK for you tonight?

The one thing I took from that game was the memories of how disgusting Dale Arnold's announcing is.

Thanks for sitting Brodeur for us tonight, we appreciate it.

I actually thought some of the calls on the Devils were borderline at best, but sometimes you get em and sometimes you don't.

Dale Arnold is no Fred Cusick, but I don't mind him. I can see how irritating he'd be if you aren't a Bruins fan... he's not exactly unbiased.

It's not that he's biased, that's fine, but the smarmy way he goes about it.

Every time a Bruin ends up on his ass: "Bergeron is taken down. No call. As the puck goes into the corner."

Or, after scoring an empty net yelling "Goodnight!"

He's the first guy to tell you that he has no allegience to the organization too. He does it every day.

Watching the post game now (I can't get to the remote) and everyon is acting like the Bruins just discovered fire. No mention of 7PPs and Clemmenson in net.

I gotta tell you, 7PPs and Scott Clemmenson spell L-O-S-S no matter what the team is.

Nothing against the Bruins, they didn't make mistakes and won the game. Very solid all around.

As a former Penguin Season ticket holder now sadly having to just watch the Pens on Nhl Network from the Sunny Confines of South Carolina,  Im gonna say if they keep up the way they are playing right now there is not a team in hockey that will keep them from the Cup this year.   Too bad about the prospective new owner situation right now however.  Heres hoping the Ioc wins on wednesday.

There are a few things at play here... and do not be suprised to see Basille still end up with the team....If Basille had agreed to the purchase, chances are IOC would not get the license and plan B would be 99% unlikely as the city would know the Pens were staying regardless.  Now with the team ownership back up in the air, it is an unknown and puts pressure on the gaming board to award IOC.  Reading the Tribune Review I found this line...

Quote
Balsillie didn't confirm or deny that he delivered such a notice. Asked if the deal was dead, he said: "No, nothing's ever dead for good. Sometimes, you get surprised by things. I have to wait for the next step. I really can't say anything more."

It is very possible that this is a "stall tactic" to ensure IOC gets the license, which a lot of insiders are now saying is going to happen.  At that point Basille will "renew" the agreement and end up with the team, and a free Arena from IOC.

I hope to hell your wrong Arkon but I have a feeling this is the last hurrah for the Pens in Pittsburgh.  Heres hoping that the govt wakes the hell up and ponys up some cash to keep the Pens.  If i was a voter in Penn and a hockey fan I would vote against whomever supported the tax money for the Pirates and Steelers and doesnt favor it for the Pens.

You missed your chance to rag on the Bruins when they lost three games by a score of 20-2 or something.

As I said before, I was getting my licks in on Marty while his stats were still kind of low early on. No one can keep up with him over the course of a season. Thanks for beating the Rangers for us.

We all can agree that beating the Rangers benefits the entire league.

Yeah - I thought the 10-2 beating was enough on it's own without me rubbing it in.

I actually felt bad after I stopped laughing!

Marty = MVP this year.

Not so sure if Marty = MVP is a lock.

If Crosby somehow gets the Pens in the playoffs, I think it'll be him.

I agree. Piling up shutouts doesn't get as much respect as piling up points does. Also, no one likes the Devils and their mind-numbingly boring (but very effective) style of play, so Marty has that knock against him as well.

So a guy who piles up points for a loser is more valuable than a guy who backstops a winner?

You guys are silly.

Crosby plays well, they could win or lose.
Crosby plays poorly, they could win or lose.

Marty plays well, they win.
Marty plays poorly, they lose.

Marty > Crosby

#1 in wins
#1 in shutouts
#2 by .01 in GAA
#2 by .001 in Save %

BUT!

If Weepy Jiggy can steal his Conn Smyth and Hasek and Carey can take his Vezinas, then why not!

It has nothing to do with who we think should win it, but rather who we think will win it. Goal scorers trump goalies most of the time in these things. And since everyone is in love with Crosby (and not with Marty), he's more likely to win it if he keeps up with current pace.

I was saying if Sidney gets the Pens in the playoffs, he probably would win it.  I never said he should!

You also have to look at it this way.  The Pens without Crosby would be abysmal.  The Devils without Brodeur wouldn't be nearly as good, but they wouldn't be abysmal like the Pens.

26th in the NHL in goals per games says they wouldn't be that good without Marty.

Pens have other guys who can put the puck in the net.

Sorry, I had to jump out of lurker status just to refute this statement.

From a December 27th, 2006 article:

"Crosby, the NHL's leading scorer, went scoreless for the second night in a row after scoring in his previous 10 games. Crosby also didn't score in a 3-0 loss at New Jersey on Tuesday. The Penguins are 0-28-1 the last two seasons when Crosby doesn't score."

What's more insane? The fact that the Penquins have not won when Crosby doesn't score or that Crosby has only not scored in 29 games since October 2005?
