RIP one of the best comedies that ever was.  It's up there with Arrested Development in terms of quality.  At least we got 4 good years.

I think that would be a huge win for Hulu Originals if they got new episodes of Community.  The ironic thing is that NBC is one of the major backers of Hulu...

Then don't.  Just use Hulu on the PC.

Sorry for not being up to date on what Jag subscribes to.  The newsletter went out recently too.  I must have just ignored it.  I know that's no excuse however.   icon_frown

I am looking forward to Jagapalooza though!

Renewed for a 6th season by Yahoo.  Yahoo?   saywhat

Harmon had this to say:
Quote
I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, 'Big Bang Theory.' Look out, 'Bang Bus!'

Yahoo has been languishing online, looks like they wanted to expand more into this territory of internet media, instead of trying to compete directly with Google.

It's a very good idea from them. These media corporations picking up properties that aren't as popular with the usual baby boomer audiences of regular TV, and instead puts them online to fit more with their intended audience.

For anyone who cares, the Harmontown movie/documentary also went up on Netflix Instant Watch this last weekend.  I thought it was pretty good.

Just watched both new episodes and loved them.  They're heavy on the meta...much more so than previously...but still a lot of fun.  Porteguese Gremlins was great.  And Chang stole every scene he was in.

I've only watched the first one, and I loved it.

But, man, Yahoo Screen is a pain in the ass.  I'm watching on the 360 (first of all, lame that it's not on a current gen console), and the sound was off, so I switched back from full screen to see if there were options, and it restarted the entire episode.  So I had to fast forward and rewind, with nothing but a time stamp to go by.  And then the Yahoo Screen menu was stuck on the screen and in trying to get rid of it, I backed out and had to start AGAIN.  Ugh.  Good thing I like this show.

Yup, Yahoo Screen is not what I would call user friendly.  I still can't figure out if they offer subtitles.  I like to use that option with shows like Community because the jokes can fly by very quickly.

I really want a remake of Blade Runner with Leonard as Roy Batty.

Wow, it was all super dense, and I loved it all. Especially the call out to how the show is changing.

I'll need to watch it again to catch some more things.

I just tried watching the episode without much luck using Yahoo Screen. The first problems were minor (a bit of stuttering, an ad playing sound from the wrong ad, etc) but the show generally played ok. At least until I got to about the 9.5 minute mark. Then it just paused up. I tried refreshing a couple of times and exiting and restarting, but each time I got to around the same time and the show just locked up. Hopefully these kinks get worked out soon.

Is that connected to the quote in my signature (which is also Britta)?

It is not, at least directly. Yours is from Season 5 opener (according to my searches). I'm on Season 3, and this was episode 11 (where Shirley gets remarried) - though it is Britta.

Further evidence of the brilliance of this show, if they're calling back throwaway lines from two seasons previous.

Quote
Narrator (Keith David - vo Arbiter in Halo 2,3, Cpt. David Anderson in Mass Effect 1,2,3): The North Cafeteria, named after Admiral William North, is located in the western portion of East Hall, gateway to the western half of North Hall, which is named not after William North, but for its position above the south wall. It is the most contested and confusing battlefield on Greendale's campus, next to the English Memorial Spanish Center, named after English Memorial, a Portuguese sailor that discovered Greendale while looking for a fountain that cured syphilis.

I bust a gut at this scene. This was done like a military documentary (Season 3 - Pillows and Blankets).

Pillows and Blankets is my favorite episode of all time.  When Pierce submits his plans for the Pillow Man, make sure you pause and read them.  They're freakin' hysterical.

If you even remotely find any of the shows you listed funny, you will experience comedy bliss while watching Community.  If you're also a bit of a nerd, you will probably pass out from laughing at some point.

Spoiler for Hiden:
p.s. be prepared to rewind a lot.  There's a LOT of stuff that whizzes by fast, or won't be immediately apparent.  And even more stuff that pays off later...sometimes even years later.

Some folks complained that the first few episodes weren't that funny, but I thought they were quite good.  However, once the cast has had time to gel and come together, it's non-stop funny.

...except for the season which will not be named.  You can skip that season.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Season 4...ugh, I hate even saying it.

The gas leak year.

What I always tell people just starting the show is that the first handful of episodes are funny in that NBC-filler way (those shows they'd put on between their big hits, just because you were too lazy to change the channel - back when that was still a thing).  And some of the characters are kind of annoying.  I single out Britta, in particular.  But then, all of a sudden, something like half a dozen episodes in, the characters start calling out how Britta is annoying in exactly the way you thought she was annoying.  Then things start getting really meta, and the show just takes off from there.

Don't even bother clicking those links until you get most of the way through Season 3 - there are too many references that spoil the fun.

p.s. I still find it hilarious that Jim Rash (the Dean) has an Academy Award sitting at home, and he still loves doing stuff like Community and Mike Tyson's Mysteries.

Although, I'm guessing just having an Oscar doesn't automatically mean you're in demand in Hollywood.
