This album came out in March, but I'm just now finally getting around to listening to it.
For those who don't know, it's a collaboration between actress Zooey Deschanel (Almost Famous, Elf, that Tin Man miniseries on Sci-Fi, etc.) and M. Ward.
It is very strange but oddly compelling. I can't really make up my mind if Zooey can actually sing or not, though from what I've seen of her live performances on YouTube, she sounds even better live than she does on the album. I guess she's just so darn adorable it makes up for any flaws in her voice. I don't know - it's one of those albums that by all rights I should probably hate, yet find myself listening to constantly.
Their first video is out and it is just as quirky and strange as the album. (Zooey looks hot in a cowgirl outfit though!)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtlO0RXktlo
Their live performance on Craig Ferguson is really good as well:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2v-oEjPI2k&feature=related
