This album came out in March, but I'm just now finally getting around to listening to it.

For those who don't know, it's a collaboration between actress Zooey Deschanel (Almost Famous, Elf, that Tin Man miniseries on Sci-Fi, etc.) and M. Ward.

It is very strange but oddly compelling. I can't really make up my mind if Zooey can actually sing or not, though from what I've seen of her live performances on YouTube, she sounds even better live than she does on the album. I guess she's just so darn adorable it makes up for any flaws in her voice. I don't know - it's one of those albums that by all rights I should probably hate, yet find myself listening to constantly.

Their first video is out and it is just as quirky and strange as the album. (Zooey looks hot in a cowgirl outfit though!)

I bought this record a while back.  Some may find it a little too precious or the writing a little too forced at times, but I really enjoy the vintage-y sound.

It's hard to say whether or not she can sing -- her voice is so heavily processed. But I have to say, even though I don't like that '50s/early '60s pop style, that stupid song they always play on the radio is definitely a toe-tapper. There have been worse celebrity vanity projects...and Zoe is cute.

There are a handful of songs on the album I really enjoy, but many of the others don't do much for me. Zoey is still the shit, though.
