"It's been restored, every last frame of it. Seriously," director James Cameron tells MTV News. However, "I would say, just so that we correctly manage people's expectations, it does not change our rating at all. I would call it more of an alien foreplay scene. It's not like they're ripping their clothes off and going at it."

I hope he is not using the Pocahontas 2 script.  The one thing that could have made Avatar a great film - writing an original script and using some imagination instead of plagiarizing a very popular story from American history.

I just pre-ordered the 3 disc collectors blu ray.

Quote
This extended collector's set includes more than eight hours of bonus features.

# Disc 1: Three Movie Versions Original Theatrical Edition (includes family audio track with objectionable language removed)
# Special Edition Re-Release (includes family audio track with objectionable language removed)
# Collector’s Extended Cut with 16 additional minutes, including alternate opening on earth

# Disc 2: Filmmaker's Journey Over 45 minutes of never-before-seen deleted scenes
# Capturing Avatar documentary
# A Message from Pandora
# Screen tests, on-set footage, and visual-effects reels

# Disc 3: Pandora's Box Interactive scene deconstruction: Explore 17 scenes at three levels of production
# Pandorapedia: Comprehensive guide to Pandora and Avatar
# Original script and screenplay
# BD-Live extras (requires BD-Live-enabled player and Internet connection--may be available a limited-time only)

disc 3 I could live without, but over 45 minutes of 'never before seen' deleted scenes?  they should have added them back in!

So will it be, what, another 7 years until 'Avatar 2'? It doesn't sound like he's anywhere near the start of production for it. Is there even a script?

By the time these release they're not going to have the 3D gimmick to fall back on, so I sure hope they're making better overall movies.

They'll have new gimmicks. We'll be able to smell the world of Avatar in addition to the 3D with the second one. For the third one, we'll be able to have surround 3D so we'll be able to have 360 degree pararoma view. With the fourth one, we'll be able to jack in directly to the brain so we can fully experience the world of avatar. smile

Since Avatar was a ripoff of Dances With Wolves crossed with Aliens, I suspect the next films will be...

Unforgiven, crossed with Terminator
The Searchers, crossed with Titanic
Stagecoach, crossed with The Abyss

There, I've taken care of the next three movies. Mission accomplished.  icon_razz

Actually, what makes me feel optimistic is the idea he may actually be handing off some of his material to other screenwriters. imho he's a great director and I wish Titanic hadn't effectively made him lazy about directing anything else. He's someone who occasionally writes great roles for women (Aliens, Titanic), but I don't think most folks argue that he writes great dialogue. And he too often, imho, writes wispy-thin villains that are moustache twirling thin (Titanic) or one-note psychos (True Lies, The Abyss [Michael Biehn's character]).

So I'm all for Jim handing off at least co-scripting duties to someone else and focusing on what he's marvelous at - directing, creating memorable action sequences, supervising FX work etc.
