I had responded to the Tarantino thread started by MO and that got me thinking: Which movies have I / you : - watched...
- enjoyed...
- never want to watch again.
It may be due to the fear that it hasn't aged well, or that there were elements I didn't like, or even a reminder of people I no longer want to think about that who were part of my life at the time. I never want to watch: Unbreakable - brilliant in design, but very pessimistic in its delivery of "real" superhero. Avatar - fantastic special effects, but a very lackluster story that left me unimpressed. Boondock Saints - watched. too. many. times. 12 Monkeys - loved it, though its dystopian future and twist ending was something I don't need to experience again. It's a credit to Bruce Willis that he managed to endear himself to me enough to not like the ending. There are a ton more, but I gotta get back to work - so share some of your movies (if you have any).

I think almost any mystery would be on that list for me. Once I know who done it, I don't think I can watch it again. That's not a slam against the genre, that's just how they work for me.

I've never like to see again:
The Hours: Two hours of repressed lesbians living in different time periods who just can't come out of the closet. It's one of the very few movies I've been tempted to walk out of. The most tedious 'fine film' I've ever seen.
The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence: Just a pointless, nihilistic horror film. I don't mind gore, but you have to make to point with it in a horror film. This one had no point but to watch someone's demented torture-murder fantasy.
The Boondock Saints: Perhaps the most overrated indie film ever made. I watched it once. All style, little to no substance. And most of what that filmmaker did was copy Tarantino's style at the time. There's a pretty good reason why that dude hasn't made any more movies (except for a vapid sequel to his only flick).. it's cause Troy Duffy truly has no talent.

I'm going to add Rescue Dawn to the list. There were a handful of scenes that were just...let's just go with "weird."
Oh, and despite the forum fan base, let's go with Oldboy as well. I haven't watched it in over 7 years and still don't ever want to see it again. What has been seen can never again be unseen. <<shudder>>

I made a friend of mine watch it last year and he friggin' loved the movie (he's a bit twisted). Then he made his wife watch it a few months ago... ...I think she's still pissed at him.

I really enjoyed Dead Alive, but the sheer amount of grossness just makes me not really want to watch it again. I can enjoy over-the-top violence in movies like RoboCop, but Dead Alive really amps up the stomach-turning. I'd still recommend it highly for people who like the Sam Raimi brand of crazy comic horror.

Driver.
Do you mean Drive? Yeah, I misunderstood the thread title too. Ok, so movies I enjoyed but will never see again: The Descendants: It's such a dry, subtle film. I appreciated it, but it won't require another viewing. It's my least favorite Alexander Payne film. A Serbian Film: I got what the film was about. Truly horrific and had somewhat of a point to it. But, yeah, never again. Synecdoche, New York: Fascinating Charlie Kauffman directorial debut, but Phillip Seymour Hoffman's lead character is so unlikeable and the plot such a meandering downer that I doubt I'll ever rewatch it. The Village: I respected M. Night Shyalaman up until this film. I could see the twist ending coming too. I suspected it. No need to sit thru it again. Eyes Wide Shut: Stanley Kubrick's last movie is so trite in its treatment of the subject of sex. Enjoyed it at the time but out of all the scripts Kubrick could have filmed, why such a.. simple one? It's a movie he should have made back in the 70s, when it would have been more shocking.

Wings of Desire by Wim Wenders.
A very moving experience for me and fantastically made. Just connected with me on so many levels at the time. Plus there's a great bit for Peter Falk.
However, while the pacing is appropriate for the film, it's long and moody. I'm not sure I could saddle up for that again.

Skyline - worst movie ever made. Ever. Rec 3 - so very disappointing. Serbian Film - glad I sat through it but I have no desire to watch it ever again.
Oldboy - I loved this one and have seen it 4 or 5 times Dead Alive was a great gorefest. I actually met Timothy Balme this weekend at a horror con in Indy and he was really cool and interesting to chat with.

The one that stuck with me for this criteria is Up In the Air. I thought the movie was excellent, but I never want to see it again because it also made me quite angry by the end.

Yeah, that's one for me, too, but every once in a while, I think I'm going to get it next time (and forget about the way too long negative image trip at the end before the mind fuck). The robots singing "Daisy" on the most recent Doctor Who episode made me laugh and toy with watching it again.

I know 2001 is the superior film, but 2010 is vastly more entertaining.

Skyline - worst movie ever made. Ever. I see that and raise you Immortals. My god, that was awful. Serbian Film - glad I sat through it but I have no desire to watch it ever again. I made the mistake of reading a summary of this film once after someone mentioned it as possibly the most horrific thing ever put on film. Call me a wuss, but I was honestly really shaken simply by reading its summary on a Wiki page. I can't imagine actually watching it.

I agree with Eyes Wide Shut. I was knocked out by it at the time, but I don't think it's aged well. Plus I was in a poison relationship at the time which made things way more awkward than they already were. Pulp Fiction is another one (to piggyback on the Tarantino thread) that I loved for a long time, but that has not aged well in my opinion. Also, as many know, I never took to Blade Runner beyond appreciating the aesthetics. Seen it several times to make sure I wasn't crazy, but I still don't like it.
As for movies I hated the first time and never want to see again, Sin City is right at the top of the list. Just hated every second of that movie.

Inception. It was genuinely one of the finest pieces of filmmaking I've ever watched, almost note perfect and yet while I was glad I watched it I did not enjoy myself. I feel no need to ever sit through it again.
Spun. One of the most genuine films about addiction ever made. I needed a hot shower afterwards and I simply can't see myself revisiting it.
