Okay,i am not really overjoyed by this...i love Trainspotting and really don't think it needs a sequel..however,there is a sequel to the book named Porno, which Boyle says will follow closely

Danny Boyle has confirmed that Trainspotting 2 will happen and to start shooting in 2016!!..20 years after the original

Danny Boyle has said the sequel to Trainspotting is going ahead - and he hopes to start shooting in 2016.

The 56-year-old also said he was confident of getting Ewan McGregor and other members of the original cast involved.

Boyle told cinema site The Playlist that the movie would be based on Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh's own sequel, Porno.

The original film follows a group of heroin addicts in an economically depressed area of Edinburgh in the late 1980s and their passage through life.

McGregor played Mark "Rents" Renton, Ewen Bremner was Daniel "Spud" Murphy and Robert Carlyle appeared as Francis "Franco" Begbie.

Welsh also appeared in the film, playing Mikey Forrester.

Slumdog Millionaire director Boyle said scriptwriter John Hodge, who wrote Trainspotting, Shallow Grave and The Beach, was working on Porno.

He said: "This has been a long time coming. There's always been this long-term plan for Trainspotting 2.

"If John can produce a decent enough script, I don't think there will be any barriers to Ewan or any of the cast coming back.

"I think they'll wanna know that the parts are good so they don't feel like they are letting anyone down."

Boyle's latest film is Trance, starring James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel.

It tells the story of a fine art auctioneer - who is mixed up with a criminal gang - joining forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting.

Trance is due out in the UK on March 27.

maybe...i love Danny Boyle as a director. I seem to remember he burned Ewan Mcgregor on a project (The Beach?), so getting him might be a little more difficult.

Other than the completely unflinching way it looked at heroin addiction, I'm not so sure what's great about this movie.

Or maybe that's why people consider it so wonderful?

Didn't realize Welsh had written a sequel. The original was interesting because it was written entirely in phonetic Scottish accents.

Yeah it was The Beach,Ewan was in Boyle's Shallow Grave,Trainspotting and A Life Less Ordinary and was to be in The Beach ..but along came Leonardo DiCaprio ,Robert Carlyle was in it still....I think the movie was a so-so hit at the time,i can't remember now

This is from 2011,that states Ewan McGregor is still pissed at Boyle

The last line is interesting concerning Trainspotting 2
Quote
Ewan McGregor refuses to end his decade-long feud with filmmaker Danny Boyle because he still feels sore about the way he was axed from The Beach in favour of Leonardo DiCaprio.

The pair formed a close friendship after collaborating on 1996 movie Trainspotting, and Boyle promised MCGregor the lead role in 2000 blockbuster The Beach - but handed the part to DiCaprio instead.

MCGregor heaped praise on Boyle's 2009 movie Slumdog Millionaire, sparking speculation actor and director would heal their rift - but the Scottish star insists he's still not speaking to the moviemaker.

He tells Britain's The Times magazine, "You just don't treat your friends like that. They absolutely made me think that I was playing the character in The Beach and we talked about (filming) dates and moving dates and so on, and all the while they were keeping me there just in case Leonardo pulled out - which is really nasty.

"And then afterwards, I just didn't hear from Danny for years. When he told me, he was very conflicted and he was very upset, and I spent a lot of time making him feel better and saying, 'No, it's alright, I understand'. And when I went home, I thought 'F**k!That doesn't feel very nice.' And my wife was furious.

"I phoned up the producer Andrew (MACdonald), who I felt was part of the team. And I said, 'Andrew, I've just had lunch with Danny and I don't understand. I didn't think that's really what we were about. I thought we were about something else. I really thought we stood for something.' And he went, 'Come on, it was gonna happen sooner or later'. And then I never heard from them for years."

And MCGregor was left fuming when he was approached by movie bosses to resurrect his Trainspotting character for a big screen adaption of author Irvine Welsh's follow-up Porno.

He adds, "I shouldn't really talk about this, but they wanted me to do... Porno. So I got a semi-apology: 'Feel like we didn't handle that very well... anyway, would you like to do Porno?'"

and now re-read this from the first article

so,I wonder if Ewan McGregor would get his own back and say Fuck You,LOL...maybe Danny Boyle will get Leonardo DiCaprio in for the role of Renton Tongue

Porno is phonetic as well, and it's a fun read.  I'm not sure how well it would work as a movie though.
