Starring Michael Fassbender, who is also co-producing

Eurogamer

Quote
Prometheus and X-Men: First Class star Michael Fassbender will star in and co-produce Ubisoft's planned Assassin's Creed film.

Fassbender will play the role of the series' iconic hooded hero, Variety claims.

Previous reports have suggested the film will be a straight adaptation of the original Assassin's Creed game, meaning Fassbender will likely play Altair, the series' first historical protagonist.

"Michael Fassbender was our first choice," said Ubisoft Motion Pictures boss Jean-Julien Baronnet. "Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor."

Fassbender will co-produce the adaptation with his own company, DMC Film. Previous negotiations with Sony stalled after "ridiculous" demands from Ubisoft, it was previously reported.

Talks with Sony over distribution may resume after a writer and director are appointed, Ubisoft stated.

"We're open to re-discuss with the key studios once the production package is finalised," Baronnet added. "Whatever the financial model, Ubisoft Motion Pictures will limit its risk investment."

While i'm overjoyed that Fassbender will be in it,who is one of my current fav actors,i also remember that Peter Jackson was doing a Halo movie...so great news, but i am preparing myself for Fassbender changing his mind or can't do it because of work commitments ...hopefully i am wrong icon_lol

honestly, if they're going to do an AssCreed movie I'd rather see them explore another time period than what has been in the games.  I wonder if your quote from earlier will hold true:

"Beginning Immediately"

Quote
Work on an Assassin's Creed movie is being 'fast tracked' after games publisher Ubisoft announced a deal with New Regency and Fox.

The act of writing a screenplay for the film - which is set to star Prometheus and X-Men actor Michael Fassbender - is "beginning immediately", according to an official statement released this afternoon.
The Assassin's Creed 3 publisher hopes to have a director, cast and script signed up for the film project by next summer, according to Variety.

I'd actually see it work better as a cable TV series, to be honest. Each season could have a new time period with its own self-contained story-arc.

No, they're going to hop over to get Peter Jackson to direct, and the end of the first movie will at the tail end of the seventh installment slated for 2033, two made-for-TV miniseries, and a full sitcom that tapers off in ratings and fails to bring closure.

Not bitter, not much.

I found that one: revelations of our brotherhood sent up a black flag, two: that chronicled Altair's bloodlines, which for me was a discovery of a legacy project (lost, then recollected) and three: that liberated my pirated utopian multiplayer rearmaments.

actually, I bet they release it on IMAX 3D first, and make everyone who doesn't want to pay the extra cost wait until a month later.
