Looks like it might be fun .  I like the look of it.  It's like the director is trying to channel a WWI film.

I just wish the damn game had been released at Origins.   Tongue

Do they not want us to be able to see anything?  Why was everything shot in such complete darkness?  I couldn't even make out a most of the faces.

really?  i didn't think it was too dark.  it seemed to have a sepia tone to everything, but not to the point of obstruction.   icon_confused

Shooting everything in the dark is a pet peeve of mine.  Mostly it's done at night to create "atmosphere" (see most horror movies), but sometimes it's done because that's the director's style (see David Fincher).  This movie makes even the daylight scenes very dark so that you can't make out much detail at all.  The shot probably was illuminated, but during postproduction it appears they darkened everything up significantly.

hmmm...i still don't think it's that dark.  at least to the point of distraction that it appears to be for you.

Maybe my browser is playing them at really dark levels, but here's how most of the trailer looked on my computer:

I can't see any kind of detail in those shots because they're too dark.

Yep, I was at Origins.  Unlike Ceekay I did not go just for the chance to dress up in a sailor moon costume and wave around a plastic sword that I named "Sir Knocker".

and i'm not sure about what came first:  the game or a comic book.  i'm thinkin' it's a game first, though.

and mcnutt:  the video didn't look that dark on my system.  those images you posted are almost unviewable.   icon_confused

Good.  I'm not sure why my video played that way, but I'm glad the movie isn't going to look like that.

I had the same issue (Firefox 3.0).  I couldn't tell what the hell was going on.

the trailer kinda reminds me of Sky Captain, where everything was shot on a green screen and there were almost no real sets.

BTW - there's a 7m video up on Youtube that was done in 2005 as something to show the investors.  Obviously the special effects are no where near what would be in an actual movie and there aren't any big name actors in it.

I read somewhere they're making a board game based off the movie.

I know it was an RPG (with a new edition coming out with the movie).  Not sure about the board game but wouldn't doubt it.

it was a board game a while back and they're releasing a new version soon.

you know, Sky Captain looked amazing in trailers and sounded fantastic in concept.  However, I literally fell asleep while watching it.  I can't quite put my finger on what ingredient failed, but something in the mix made the whole movie fall apart for me.   icon_confused

yeah, SC was just... boring.  sure, it had action, but maybe it was the artificialness of it all that killed the mood.
